Makeup Tips To Achieve The Perfect Spring Look

It’s finally Spring! The UnitWise Heroes are very excited for warmer weather - that winter was somethin’ else.

The best part about Spring is the fashion, and the top make up trend for this bright season is a fresh face with a pop of color. You want to appear as if you have no make up on and your skin just has a natural dewy glow.

There were 3 main looks that graced the runways for Spring Fashion and we have tips from the pros to create the perfect Spring look:

Fresh Face Look:

Alexander Wang Spring 2014
If you can get away with only needing to use a CC cream, like MK CC Cream, then all you will need to do is apply, and brush a highlighter on the upper cheek bone and extend to the temples.

If you need a full coverage that doesn’t look obvious, “apply makeup, then top with moisturizer and pat the face with a tissue,” says Alexander Wang’s makeup pro Diane Kendal. To avoid a masky look, Kendal worked a touch of color into otherwise bare faces by pressing bronzer into cheeks.

White Eyeshadow:
Altuzzara Spring 2014
White eyeshadow and white eyeliner were all over the runways. White eyeshadow is a big favorite because it is very simple and instantly brightens up the yes. You just sweep white eyeshadow across your entire lid...and done. This look works well with a matte shadow on the lid, and use a shimmer white on the inner corners and on the bottom outer corners.

 Orange Lips:
Rag & Bone Spring 2014
This look is fun and may put some out of their comfort zone at first, but there is an orange shade for everyone. Revlon global artistic director Gucci Westman says, “If you have olive skin, it makes your skin more olive, and if you’re fair, it enhances the pallor.”

For bold pigment that’s super precise, line lips with a pencil before applying color with a lipstick brush, Westman says. “But if it’s just a stain, then I do it with my fingers.”

Spring is time to play with color and trends and to just have fun with makeup. The new Spring Looks that are trending are all super easy to create and wear all day long. We can’t wait to see what new Spring Looks you can create this season.Check out all the Spring Fashion and Makeup trends from elle.com. For more great makeup tips visit our Pinterest Page.

How To: Keeping Track of Other Incomes in UnitWise

For any Mary Kay consultant, income that comes from personal sales is very important, however as you grow your business you may encounter other types of Income: Commissions from MK, payments from Consultants for events, refunds from Businesses etc. UnitWise can help you keep track of all your Incomes in one convenient account.

It’s best to start by creating Income accounts. For instance you have a Training center, your consultants pay you for weekly meetings and special events with guest Directors and Nationals. For that you can create an Income account called Special Events.

To record your Income for any account, please go to Accounts>Other Incomes>Create Other income. For example, let’s say you are hosting a Debut party for your New Director Mary. Now you need to reimburse the caterer for food and the venue to the event space. Before you pay the vendors; money from attendees needs to be collected and properly recorded. Using UnitWise is the best way to do that. After you have created the Income Category (As described above) you can add incomes, in our case the payment was received from Jane Smith for $20 and the money is now recorded under Special Events Income account.

As the Income is added you can always view your Income activities under Accounts>Other Incomes. Here you can sort by Date, by Transactions name, Account name, Payment type and Amount. The list can also be exported to Excel.

At tax time or any time you can get report with totals of your Income accounts by going to Home>Reports>Account>Profit and Loss report>select a Date Range and Run report.

It is easy to get lost in the multitude of transactions you come across daily, that is why it is important to have a proper system, like one offered by UnitWise, that has a way to customize the program for any business situation you need to handle.

Cleansing Brushes: How Do They Work?

Cleansing brushes - like the MK Skinvigorate™ Cleansing Brush - provide amazing benefits for your skin, but do your know exactly why they are beneficial or what it is they do? You have been told they remove makeup better than cleansing by hand and soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles, but how do they do it? Well ask no longer here are the ins and outs of cleansing brushes everyone should know, well everyone who wants flawless skin - which is everyone.

What is a cleansing brush doing to the skin?
Studies show that brushes effectively banish impurities while increasing blood circulation under the skin. Because your face is cleaner, products such as moisturizers, anti-aging serums and topical retinoids penetrate better and work faster [source: Coleman].
A facial cleansing brush allows the dead skin cells to exfoliate quicker, and from that produce more collagen, and gradually, you get tighter skin.(photo courtesy of marykay.com)

Why your skin might flare up when you first start using a cleansing brush?
For many cleansing brush newbies your skin might flare up and break out, probably within the first few weeks. The reason for this is the dead skin cells that are being sloughed off plug up your pores. Bus as your skin gets used to it, your pores become more open and there will be fewer dead skin cells to exfoliate, so you'll be less likely to have breakouts.

How to get the best results with your cleansing brush:
  • Ease the brush into your routine. Try using it once or twice a week at first and slowly build up your use. Normal skin types can potentially use it every day, while those with more sensitive complexions should stick with once or twice a week.
  • Follow up your cleansing with any topical medication you may use, then apply your moisturizer last.
  • Change your brush head at least once every three months. To keep your brush clean and mildew-free, wash it with mild liquid soap, pat it with a towel and let air dry. Sanitize by soaking your cleansing brush in rubbing alcohol. Always keep your brush heads clean.

How To: Using the - Assign To - Program Feature In UnitWise

Sometimes your customers may purchase products for other people as gifts. You may see it a lot during the Holiday Season and even in spring for Mother’s day.

We love extra orders, but what do you do about the products that are purchased for someone else? That is when the - Assign To - feature in UnitWise comes in handy.

How Do I Use The Assign To feature?
For example, if you have John buying a surprise gift for his wife, let’s call her Mary, you should enter John as a customer in UnitWise (if you haven’t yet). Then, start creating an Invoice/Sales Receipt under his name - so to not accidentally spoil the surprise and email the Payment Receipt to Mary’s email address - and BONUS you gain a new customer that way!As you create an Invoice or a Sales Receipt you can click on the Assign To icon, to the right of the product name, and enter the name of the person that is receiving the products as a gift.

Keep in mind that the person you are assigning a product to must be already listed in your UnitWise account as a Customer or a Team Member. To add somebody to your contacts, customer or team member group go to your customers > customer center and click on add new. For further details please check out this tutorial video.

Makeup Tips For Mature Skin

Global Makeover Day is Tomorrow! The Heroes as UnitWise are super excited to see all your GMD festivities. To help you be the best Makeover Specialists here are some great makeup tips for mature skin.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize
You may already know moisturizing the skin before you apply makeup is essential but do you know why? Pampering your skin with moisturizer before you apply foundation and concealer will temporarily plump up skin - making those fine lines a little less visible. Moisturizing before foundation application also helps it glide on much more smoothly.

Foundation Education
Some mature women still use the same foundation they used 10 years ago. This is no good. You skin changes not only yearly, but seasonally. In winter months, you may need a creamy formula. In summer months you may find your skin become oily and a tinted moisturizer is all you need.

The Secret Lip Plumper
As you get older, your lips seem to appear thinner. But it is super simple to make them appear fuller without harmful injections. To plump them up, lip gloss is your best bet. Nothing works better - all you need to do is add a little color first by filling in lips with a lip liner or lipstick a shade or 2 darker than your natural lip color, not to much darker-just slightly. Then add a dab of gloss on top and voila! Instant lip plumper.

Avoid Dark Lipsticks
Unless you have dark skin and plump lips, it is best to stay away from super dark lipstick, which ages everyone. Rosy reds and pinks are better bets.

Just Say No To Liquid Liners
Eye pencils are softer on liquid liners, which can be harsh on aging eyes. To soften the line even more, smudge it with a q-tip or angle brush. If you liner isn't going on very smooth, take a lighter and run the tip through the flame once or twice and it will glide perfectly on your skin. Don't line the inside of the eye if you have smaller eyes, it makes the eye appear tiny.

Make Your Eyes the Center of Attention
You have a beautiful face, and making your eyes the main focal point of your face will detract attention from any fine lines. Enhance your eye color with eyeshadow shades that will make your eyes pop. MK has put together great shadow sets that coordinate with every eye color, but if you are not sure what works best here is the break down:
  • Brown/Hazel Eyes - golds, browns, and blues
  • Blue Eyes - blue-gray, coppers, gold, and browns
  • Green Eyes - golds, browns, purples, and burgundy shades
It's PRIMER Time
Just as you prime a wall with primer before you paint it, the secret to flawless makeup lies in makeup primer. Applying a layer of primer between your skin and makeup will help your eyeshadow, foundation, and mascara glide on flawlessly - and most importantly - stay put. Layer primer between your moisturizer and your foundation for best results.

The Wonderful World of Highlighters and Illuminators
Highlighters lift the face instantly and shave off a few years. To get the most out of highlighters and illuminators you have to know where to apply them. MK has a great video on facial highlighting and shows you exactly how to do it.

Give Your Lashes A Curl, Girl
Curling your lashes opens up your eyes and makes them pop. To get your lashes to keep their curl all day try warming up your lash curler with a blow dryer for 3 seconds and then curl away. Make sure to test the metal on your arm first so you don't burn you lid. Then apply a couple sweeps of mascara to and (poof) gorgeous eyes!

With these tips and some great MK makeup & skin care you will perform amazing makeovers for Global Makeover Day! Make sure to post before and after pictures on your social media so no just the Heroes but all your MK family can see your fabulous makeovers. Have fun and experiment with color, powders and creme makeup, and application. Can't wait to see what you come up with...until next time - have a wonderful weekend.

E-mail Throttling

Do you wonder why your marketing emails are sent at different time intervals instead of all at once or why there is a difference in the time you send the email and the time it is delivered?

It’s a process called Throttling.

Throttling - describes the process of regulating email send rates. Throttling limits the number of email messages that a broadcaster can send to a single ISP (Internet Service Provider) or mail server at one time. In fact, some ISPs will bounce emails if they receive too many messages from one sending address at once and your recipients will never get the email. While throttling can be frustrating when sending your marketing emails, it is in place to protect against spammers, and we all know how annoying spam mail can be.

Here are few tips we can recommend to make Throttling your friend:
  • Send campaigns in advance. That way your message will have plenty of time to reach the recipients.
  • Send emails in batches of smaller groups
  • Schedule the emails for non-peak hours: stay away from standard bank hours: 8am-6pm.
