The Best Way To Record Your CDS

The Best Way To Record Your CDS
The holiday season is in the air! While we are sure you’re executing your brilliantly crafted holiday sales plans strategies there is no better time to up your game. Today your friends at UnitWise are sharing how you can efficiently track customer invoices and your business expenses in one convenient location.

If you are like many other MK Consultants and Directors that ship their orders via CDS, then you probably wonder; what is the best way to record the transaction for both your customers and your Cost Of Goods... UnitWise has you covered! We have added the ability to keep track of the customer invoices and your expenses all in one transaction!

Here's how it works:

  1. Create Invoice/Sales Receipt
  2. Calculate Shipping and Cost of Goods
  3. Select Expense Account

UnitWise Makes Holiday Sales Tracking

Step 1
Create the invoice or receipt as you usually would, but make sure to check the "Use Customer Delivery Service" box located under the customer's information.

Step 2
Calculate shipping and enter it here into the shipping field. If the cost of shipping was passed onto your customer, then leave this field at $0 and charge shipping on the customer's portion.

Step 3
The "Amount Paid to MK" field will be the wholesale product price + your shipping cost (if shipping was passed to a customer then the amount is 0) + the full retail tax amount.

Step 4
The "Pay From" Account is going to record the expense into your Chart of Accounts, merely choose which account to charge and enter the total Cost of Goods again (this will be the same amount located in the COG field).

Once your receipt is saved a Purchase Order will be automatically created to track your COG expenses incurred for this CDS Order!

3 Simple Date-Night Makeup Looks You Need To Try

3 Simple Date-Night Makeup Looks You Need To Try

Getting ready for a promising date can feel like a painstaking process, but with a regular skincare routine and MK makeup, you’ll leave the house in love with your look.

Before we get started with any look be sure to hydrate your skin. Take the time to cleanse and hydrate your skin deeply, so you have a healthy glow the entire night. Plus you won’t wake up in the morning with regret.

Fall For These Date-Night Makeup Looks

1. Smoke Signals:

The classic smokey eye is by definition dramatic. Up the drama even more by concentrating the darkest pigment on and around your upper eyelids. The classic smokey eye, on the other hand, is darkest on your crease and outer corner of your eyes while the lids are kept light.

Application Tip:
When you try this look at home start with your eye makeup, then move on to everything else. The black powder will definitely require at minimum a little cleanup.

What You Will Need:
Mary Kay® Mineral Eye Color
Matte Coal
Sterling (Shimmer)
Mary Kay® Gel Eyeliner With Expandable Brush Applicator (Black)

2. Light Up The Room

Who needs romantic candlelight when you have your handy dandy highlighter? After you see yourself in full glow-y glory, we’re sure you will be obsessed with an all-over luminous look for your next date night.

Add just a bit of sculpting at the outer corner of your eyes and under your cheekbones to create dimension, but not enough to stand out. Add a touch of mascara, then the rest of your look is about light.

Apply a touch of silver shadow along your tear ducts, a pearl highlighter to your cheekbones and down the bridge of your nose. Complete this look with an opalescent sheen on your lips for a glowing look that will make heads turn.

What You Will Need:

3. A Modern Romance

How could we create a date-night makeup tutorial list with the quintessential romantic makeup staple –– red lipstick? Heck, there are those who say it makes you look younger. Sometimes there is no need to reinvent the wheel, but it’s definitely nice to freshen up this look.

How To Use Samples to Expand Your Customer Base

How To Use Samples to Expand Your Customer BaseBeing able to entice your future clients to sign-up for your email list or to become a customer with a free gift is a remarkable strategy many businesses have been using to expand and quickly grow. When Mary Kay Ash started her beauty line in 1963, she would supply her agents with enough products to start their venture, and it would be up to them to find clients and succeed. Now Mary Kay is a billion dollar operation employing over 2 million consultants in several countries.

Just as Mary Kay Ash knew, the key to success is gaining a steady stream of clients. Successfully using #MK samples in your business relies on a good strategy. You need to consider why samples work, how to present free samples, and how to effectively use samples to grow your business when you pair this with email marketing.

Why MK Samples Work:

There is no better way to connect with new customers than putting Mary Kay product samples in their hands. Samples allow your customers an opportunity to try the products at home and see the result for themselves with no pressure to purchase the full-size product.

How to Present a Free Sample:

Cute bags, wrapping, and boxes are overrated, and often results in your prospective clients never getting to the goodies. You should present them unwrapped and ready to use. For example, how many gift bags or plastic baggie have you never taken the time to unwrap? If you're like me likely it sat in your purse for a few weeks then you threw it away. Just give them your product without any extra fluff. Mary Kay has amazing products, and they speak for themselves. But overall, you need to give out samples as a gift with no string attached and make sure your prospective customers understand that.

How to Effectively Use Samples to Grow Your Business

How To Use Samples to Expand Your Customer BaseYour overall strategy is to use a free gift to entice a new user! Give a gift without strings attached whenever possible. In business, you’d like to be able to follow-up with the person, so try to get their information so you can send an email in 24 hours asking how they liked their sample. If this is not possible, attach a business card directly to the sample using a glue-dot so they know how to contact you to order!

Bonus Marketing Ideas:

Use these opportunities to “sample bomb” and collect new leads!

Research Festivals and Events
in your area. Once you sign-up for a table or booth and set up your display, you’ll be ready to start gathering leads! Be sure to dress appropriately, make eye contact, stand in front of your table, and see who is genuinely interested when approaching your table. A common idea is to run a giveaway for a premium product and collect emails, and then give samples to those who are interested. Don’t forget to take pictures of your table and you handing out free samples to post on your social media and tag the event to spread the love.

Turn running errands into an everyday opportunity to spread your love your Mary Kay by giving out samples. Show your appreciation to your restaurant server or congratulate your cashier at the supermarket for a job well done. This will make their day, so do it at every opportunity! Don’t forget to ask for their contact information.

The Complete Guide to Where to Apply Eye Makeup

The Complete Guide to Where to Apply Eye Makeup
Eyeshadow, eyeliner, blending brushes --- oh my! Learning to apply eye makeup is no easy task, even for seasoned beauty pros. If you (or a customer) are having a tough time decoding all those tricky makeup tutorials, I have an easy guide to each part of your eye so you know where all those products go.

Decoding Complicated Tutorials

Brow Bone
If you want to open up your eyes and accentuate your brows, you can add a matte pale eyeshadow directly under your brow.

Eyelid (Lid)
Typically your main or base shadow goes on your eyelid. Or if you have a creative spirit you might want to also use this space to explore unique eyeliner designs.

Crease
This is exactly what it sounds like. It is the crease between your brow bone and eyelid. You will want to apply a darker shade of eyeshadow here along your eye socket to add dimension to your eyes.

Outer V
The outermost corner of your eye where you would typically wear eyeliner or darker eyeshadows. Typically, the liner and/or shadow is applied in a “V” shape with your top and bottom lid.

Upper Lashline
The edges of your upper eyelid where your eyelashes begin. You can define your eye by applying eyeliner or mascara here.

Waterline
The inner rim of your bottom eyelid. You can apply pencil or gel eyeliner to add a smoky look or light liner to make your eyes appear bigger.

Lower Lashline
Just below your waterline where your bottom lashes begin. You can use a liner and eyeshadow to define your eyes.

10 Amazing Facts You Need to Know About MK

Today all around the world MK consultants and brand lovers everywhere mark the 55th anniversary and founding day of the iconic beauty. It's hard to imagine the billion dollar organization today starting as a far 500 square feet shop in Dallas, Texas featuring only five beauty products.

MK has come such a long way since then and now features more than 200 products and spans 37 countries employing more than 3 million Independent Beauty Consultants. Here are 10 amazing facts about MK.

10 Amazing MK Facts:

1. Mary Kay Ash was born in 1918 in Hot Wells, Texas, and grew up watching her mother work 14-hour days to support the family. Here she learned her “can do” spirited!
2. Her father suffered from tuberculosis. At age three her father was sent away for three years for treatment but remained ill for the remainder of his life.
3. Mary Kay Ash was the youngest of three: Two sisters, Dealia Koch and Daisy Wagner, and
brother Cecil Dewitt Wagner.
4. In 1952 after 13 years at Stanley Home Products; Mary Kay Ash earned a promotion but did not receive it due to gender discrimination.

5. She began her employment with World Gift in Dallas where she increased the company's turnover by more than 50% in less than a year and quickly rose to become a national training director. However, again she fell victim to gender discrimination and was passed over for a man she trained.

6. Disgusted by this repetition, she left with the intention of writing a book to help career women.
7. While writing her book, she realized that she had created the foundation for a successful business that would finally give women equal opportunities to achieve personal well being and financial success.
8.  Mary Kay Ash started her venture with only $5,000 of life savings.
9. In 1964, Mary Kay Ash held her first sale convention which she called “Seminar” (Sound familiar?!?)
10. However, back then Seminar was held in a warehouse decorated with balloons, and she served Chicken and Jello Salad.

Mary Kay Ash was truly an inspirational woman, and her story should be told more often. In a time when women were not given equal opportunities, she did the impossible because of her grit, determination, and devotion to God.

9/11: We Will Never Forget

9/11: We Will Never Forget

Most of us that were alive remember where we were on September 11th, 2001 when American Airlines Flight 11 struck the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City.

Today, we all need to take time to remember and send an extra prayer.

Seventeen years ago the nation as a whole stopped as we watched the attack on World Trade Centers. However, while the attacks shattered the steel of the twin towers, they could never dent the steel of the American resolve. In a time when the U.S. is divided with anger, violence, and strife it feels appropriate that we take a moment to remember.

During the attack, 2,763 people were killed within the burning and finally collapsing towers, including 343 brave firefighters and paramedics who struggled to evacuate the building and save the individuals trapped on blocked floors.

Hold your family and friends close, no one is guaranteed tomorrow. Let us stand together today and every day knowing that the cost of freedom does not come cheap and remembering all who were lost on that tragic day.

Two beams of light will be shooting into the sky tonight where the towers originally stood as a display to show Americans that we will never forget what happened as time passes and we progress as a stronger nation.

So please take a few minutes today and say a prayer for the brave men and women who continue to defend our liberties and freedom. Also to first responders who are always the first on the scene charging forward to save lives every day.

Thank you, and God bless you from your friends at UnitWise.

Join us in honoring our nation and all of those who were lost that day by saving this image and sharing it with #neverforget!

Fall 2018 Makeup Trends You Need To See

Fall 2018 Makeup Trends You Need To See

Fall is a great time to try a new look and changing your makeup routine is the easiest way to do that! The power of makeup is endless with its ability to transform but then wash off completely. To help you find your new fall look we have separated the hits from the misses.

Fall Makeup Trends You Should Try or Leave Alone

As we enter a new season, a massive amount of new trends have left us in a state of awe. But also asking “why?” From the endless onslaught that is our fascination with gluing things to our faces to glitter (too much glitter… yes there is such thing as too much 👀), the pretty but strange beauty trends don’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. To help in the pursuit of keeping your clients on-trend here are the do’s and don’ts for fall 2018 makeup trends.

Fall 2018 Makeup Trends You Need To See

Unique Eyebrows

DoDon’t

Natural full browsUnnatural shapes and designs

If the eyes are the window to your soul, then the eyebrows are the curtains. I am a huge fan of the fuller, more natural eyebrows of 2018. From the catwalk to the office women are sporting more natural-looking arched brows. This trend is a welcomed transition. From the thin pencil brows of the early 2010s and 2016’s exaggerated arches comes a more natural look.Alongside these natural brows are the barbed wire, squiggle, rhinestone, shaved, braided, and carved eyebrows. (Honestly, I could go on and on…) While I cannot claim to be a fan of this trend, there is no denying they are fascinating.
Fall 2018 Makeup Trends You Need To See

Fall-Inspired Eyeshadow

DoDon’t

Fall Leaves Color schemeColor blocks and floras

Incorporate autumnal colors into your makeup routine. Add burnt orange, burgundy, and warm chocolate brown shades into your eyeshadow routine. Smokey eyes with black shadow are beautiful. This fall try using a burnt orange in the crease of client’s eyes and smudge it along the lash line. This trend is terrific for celebrating the transition to fall.I can’t say I ever envisioned gluing dried flowers and rhinestones to eyes as a makeup trend. While this eye makeup looks like a work of art, I certainly have my doubts. Making this my number one trend never to recommend to clients.

Blocked eyeshadow has swept the world of fashion and social media this fall. While we all love a good smokey eye, this trend looks bizarre and unblended.

Fresh Face of Fall

DoDon’t

Light foundation, contouring, and highlightingBlack contour and faux Freckles

Many women make the mistake of not adjusting their contour during the change of season. Summer is a great time to sport bright colors and darker contours. For a natural fall, look adjust your contour shade to two shades darker than your current skin tone. Create a light dimension and higher cheekbones by applying softer colors and even blending. The faux freckles trend keeps growing. Not satisfied with regular freckles there are now rainbow, glitter, and metallic freckles. We are all for embracing natural beauty, but this trend is going too far. If you clients love freckles, suggest natural tone pencils or temporary tattoos. Freckles give off a fresh, natural, and youthful look.

Unless considering black contouring for your Halloween makeup stay far far away. Black contouring and highlighter don’t go together. Three words: Silly putty highlighter--just stop.

Fall 2018 Makeup Trends You Need To See

Fall Lip Colors

DoDon’t

Rich color and ombre lipsGeo and lollipop lips

The ombre style has been making a steady resurgence in the past few years. From hair to nail art and now lips. I am a huge fan of this look because it naturally gives more dimension and pout to your lips. This fall, try using different hues and merge colors once you are satisfied with the result.

Fall is a perfect time to try using rich hues in place of bright colors.
I cannot believe lollipop lips are still a thing. Lollipop lips or the smudge look surfaced earlier this year during fashion week. Recreate this look by coloring outside the lines and smudging the lip color…. No, really I am serious. It might not be the look you want your clients walking out of your party with.

In comparison to the lollipop lips, geo lips are more refined. This look is beautiful but impractical and a bit weird. Making your soft lips look rock hard is far from my ideal.

As an MK consultant or director, we understand how important it is to stay up-to-date on the latest makeup trends. During your next consultant meeting share these dos and don’ts of fall makeup trends. We hope you have enjoyed these new makeup trends for fall 2018. How Back-to-School Can Help Your Direct Sale Business

How Back-to-School Can Help Your Direct Sale BusinessThe kids aren’t the only ones getting back to the grind– you should be too. Shake off the summer and get ready to boost sales! Take advantage of the back-to-school season with these direct sale business tips.

Back-to-School Tips For Direct Sale Business

You know the rule: back-to-school means a new look. And while for some people that may entail a new lunch box, for your direct sale business that means freshening up your marketing. Make sure your social media and website have new (but still cohesive) banners to breathe a little life back into them. A new look lets people know you’re still active, and changing profile banners will bring you back up in people’s social feeds.

But there is one part of the makeover for your direct sales marketing that is more important than the rest: adding a “Shop Now” button to your Facebook. You want people to be able to immediately see that they can buy what you’re selling when they visit your profile. The best social media banner in the world won’t do you any good if people leave your website because they can’t find what they’re looking for.

Direct Sales Marketing Makeover

Remember cracking open your brand-new planner on the first day of class (whether you used it all year or abandoned it in September is another story)? Well, you can crack open a planner of sorts for your direct sale business, too! This one just has more bytes than binder rings.

Your best back-to-school tool for direct sales will be a social media planner. Sites like
Buffer, Hootsuite, Tweetdeck, Social Pilot, and others offer free platforms for you to knock out months’ worth of planned social media posts. Sit down with a calendar (real or digital) and plan out the kinds of statuses and/or tweets you’ll need to make and when you would want to post them. You can base these around holidays, planned parties, hostess events, etc. It’s completely up to you!

If looking at the whole year is overwhelming, try scheduling out one month at a time. Once you know what your year looks like, schedule your planned promotions in the social media planner.

Boost Sales With Communication

How Back-to-School Can Help Your Direct Sale Business
Now that school is back in session, people are slipping back into a more predictable routine. Use this to your advantage! Start touching base with potential clients, former clients, fellow PTA parents, distant friends you lost touch with over the summer. You never know when networking could come in handy.

While communication certainly means reaching out, it is also important to communicate with those with whom you already have an established relationship. Remember that it’s okay to ask your family for the time away from them you need to run your business. Ask your team members to observe your work-life balance and try talk to you about business matters during your family time. Lastly, don’t be afraid to reach out and ask your customers if they need to restock when you get a new order of their favorite products in!

Direct Sales Can Mean Doing Your Homework

The last back-to-school tip that applies to direct sales business is immersion. Much like you won’t learn the material if you’re not in class, you won’t really know what your products can do unless you try them yourself. If you can give your own personal testimonial about your products, you have the potential to boost your sales remarkably. So push up your sleeves and try it before you ask people to buy it!

Make Sure You Have The Best Eyebrow Makeup In The Room

Make Sure You Have The Best Eyebrow Makeup In The Room
There’s a new brow in town. Last week, British Vogue put Rihanna on their cover...without most of her eyebrows. The message: that skinny brows are back. The best eyebrow makeup in the room is now all makeup and no eyebrow.

Eyebrow shapes have cycled in and out of popularity, but it has always been in-style to have brows that match each other as well as your face. So if you don’t feel like scrambling for the eyebrow shaver just yet, fill your makeup bag with these essentials instead.

Best Eyebrow Makeup Staples

No matter what eyebrow shape you have or brow makeup you are partial to, your makeup bag should always contain these eyebrow makeup essentials:

Pencil– An oldie but a goody, brow pencils are the foundation of eyebrow makeup. You can use them not only to define the shape, but also to fill it in. Short hairlike strokes are recommended to fill darker brows, but blondes can get away with a slightly heavier application.

Filler–
If you feel that pencil does not add enough dimension to your brow makeup, brow fillers are a great way to get bushy brows without going broke. Fillers are designed not just to cover patches, but also to add highlights/shading to what might appear like the matte drawing of an eyebrow. Fillers can come in in tubes as well as in powdered form.

Make Sure You Have The Best Eyebrow Makeup In The RoomBrow gel– Brow gel functions like mascara for your eyebrows: it volumizes and slicks them into place. Some brands of gel can also act as fillers. Brow gel is often tinted to appear more natural.

Tattoo eyebrow pen– A newer tool on the market, the tattoo eyebrow pen lets you make more hairlike strokes in one go because of its pronged tip. It’s billed as DIY microblading, but the “tattoo” part of “tattoo eyebrow pen” is more because the formula is waterproof and more durable than a typical pencil.

Keep two (or all four) of these tools handy to ensure you always have the best eyebrow makeup in the room. Whether those brows are your signature or a celebrity’s doesn’t matter as long as you feel confident.

These Summer Makeup Tips Will Help You Hold Up In The Heat

These Summer Makeup Tips Will Help You Hold Up In The HeatWearing makeup in the summer is a piece of cake––and by that we mean you have to become a piece of cake. You’ve got to keep your frosting intact despite wilting inside. If you’re a southern debutante with decades of practice, summer makeup might be an easy feat, but if you’re dying for summer makeup looks that don’t die in the heat of the day, read on.

Summer Makeup Tips

You’re going to sweat. It’s inevitable, so do what you can to keep your look on lock. Primer is one of the most reliable summer beauty hacks, and your best chance at keeping your face in place. Look for oil-free primers if you can (you’ll be shiny enough this summer). Primer will set your foundation, enabling it to last longer. Apply it before your foundation and concealer, and then step out into the sun without worrying you’ll wilt.

Tell Me Sweet Little Lines

Liquid eyeliner is also a great staple for any of your summer makeup looks. It doesn’t move––even when you want it to (steady hands in application, gals, steady hands…) Learn more about the perks and pitfalls of liquid liner here.

She’s Just Blot That Into You

Even the best summer makeup isn’t invincible; you’ll still need to tone down any unruly shine throughout the day. Whether your go-to is blotting papers, or simply a small reapplication of powder, always have something on-hand to soak up the extra oil. Layers of powder applied over the course of the day are fine, but if you’re worried about being heavy-handed, stick to the blotting papers; they’ll be stuck to you anyway (but that’s their job).

These Summer Makeup Tips Will Help You Hold Up In The Heat

Taking Care Of Your Skin Is Win-Win

Perhaps the best summer beauty hack lies in the foundation, and no, we don’t mean your base layer. Keeping your skin in shape is the best summer beauty tool you have at your disposal. Hydrate, moisturize, and follow these other tips to keep your skin in fighting shape. Take care of your canvas and it will take care of you.

Your friends at UnitWise are here to provide you with expert makeup and business advice. We encourage you to share this blog with your clients and unit members to share the love.

Makeup Trends Summer 2018 You Need to See to Believe

Makeup Trends Summer 2018 You Need to See to Believe
Season after season, we see makeup trends born on the runways trickle down to our daily lives. Today, I am here to introduce the makeup trends of summer 2018 you need to see to believe. Whether you are brave enough to tack the latest bold eyebrow trend or are looking for something a little less dramatic, you will find something that suits. Keep reading, and get ready to ditch your old eyeshadow palette for something a bit more exciting this season.

Makeup Trends Summer 2018 You Need to See to Believe

We have rounded up our favorite summer 2018 makeup trends to share with you, and this is what we found. Whether you are wanting to spice up your summer makeup routine or checking out a local music festival, there is something for everyone.

Ultra Violet and Magenta Lips

While ultra violet lipstick might very well be the color of the year, we suggest a more magenta-hue purple because it is more flattering on most skin tones. This intense pop of color means you don’t need to go all out for the rest of your makeup. All you need is a barely-there foundation to make a statement.

To achieve this look, we suggest the Limited-Time Offer Pink Changing Lives® Mary Kay® Gel Semi-Matte Lipstick in Powerful Pink. Not only is this a beautiful color but your purchase benefits The Mary Kay Foundation and goes to support women’s shelters and survivors of domestic violence.

Mascara Overload

Skip the fake lashes! It’s time to get back to the basics and load up your natural lashes. Mascara formulas have come a long way in the past few years, so now you can go big without ending up with clumpy lashes. This is one of those looks we took straight from the runway that we love. The goal is to get well-defined loaded lashes for a doll-eyed 1960’s inspired look emphasizing your lower lashes.

What better mascara to use to intensify your look than Lash Intensity® Mascara. We suggest holding your wand vertically rather than horizontally to coat your lashes thoroughly. Wait for the first layer to dry then hold your brush vertically for an eye-popping effect.

Tie-Dye Eyebrow Trend

Well, there had to be one. When it comes to makeup trends, there is always that one strange trend that fascinates and perplexing us. What better way to rock your local music festival than trying a simple, bold eyebrow trend. The best part about this summer trend is all you need is blush and powder. To achieve this look start off by powdering your entire brow with your face powder. This will help to make sure the color doesn’t cling too much. Now for the tie-dye part of this look, gently brush your choice of blush starting on the inner part of your brow and work out. Finish this look by adding a swath of blush to your eyelid crease.

We suggest using the Mary Kay® Mineral Cheek Color Duo. Not only do you get extra bang for your buck you don’t have to worry about your makeup shifting during the day!

Over the day your hair can get flat and oily, so be sure to pack a mini version of your favorite dry shampoo. Personally, my favorite is the original Batiste. Separate your hair into two-inch sections and spritz lightly holding the bottle about 10 - 12 inches from your roots.

If you have not used dry shampoo before, don’t be put off by the white powder; simply blend it in by working your fingers through your hair. Lastly, use a hairbrush to work the formula into your hair to get a polished look.

I would also consider packing a small travel bottle of hairspray for any needed touchups throughout the day.

2. Oil Absorbing Sheet

This is something I never leave the house without, especially on a hot summer’s day. Blotting papers or oil absorbing sheets are an excellent way to whisk away any sweat or oil during the day. If you add additional layers of powder during the day to cover the shine you will end up looking cakey because of the oil underneath. Keep oil blotting sheets in your bag to quickly soak up any excess oil or shine without messing up your makeup.

If you forget to pack any blotting paper you can always use brown napkins as a quick substitute.

3. Foundation and Concealer

5 On-The-Go Makeup Essentials For Surviving Seminar
Keep a light to medium coverage foundation and concealer in your bag or purse during Seminar 2018. Most likely you will already be wearing foundation, so be careful not to apply too much. Use the concealer for any touch ups and to freshen up your eyes. We have all experienced the occasional pimple or burst of slight redness during a hectic day.

If you are worried about any accidental spills, try using a contact lens case. Use one side for your foundation and the other for your concealer.

4. Red & Nude Lipstick

Depending on your look that day you will want to pack a dramatic red and natural nude lipstick. Use it for touch-ups throughout the day, or if you’re going out with your unit members that night you can pull a superhero-like day-to-night transformation.

If you like a dramatic flare pack a small case of eyeshadow for touch ups and to add drama.

5. Perfume

Instead of carrying a full bottle of perfume, opt for carrying a small sample bottle or purchase a roller ball. They are perfect for your makeup bag because they are small and you can avoid any accidental spills during Seminar 2018.

The Most Inspiring Mary Kay Ash Quotes for Success

Mary Kay Ash was the founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics and and inspiration to women everywhereMary Kay Ash was the founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics and is considered America’s greatest businesswoman. Born in 1918 in Hot Wells, Texas she grew up watching her mother work 14-hour days to support the family. Here she learned her “can-do” spirit! During her early working life she frequently fell victim to gender discrimination and was passed over for promotions and equal pay. Disgusted by this she realized that she had to create a successful business where woman would finally get equal pay and opportunities. Using her life savings she started Mary Kay, which now features more than 200 products and spans 37 countries, employing more than 3 million Independent Beauty Consultants. Below are some inspiring quotes from the woman who made it all happen.

The Most Inspiring Mary Kay Ash Quotes for Success

1. Aerodynamically, the bumblebee shouldn’t be able to fly, but the bumblebee doesn’t know it so it goes on flying anyway.

2. Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve.

3. The speed of the leader is the speed of the gang.

4. You can have anything in this world you want, if you want it badly enough and you’re willing to pay the price.

5. We must have a theme, a goal, a purpose in our lives. If you don’t know where you’re aiming, you don’t have a goal. My goal is to live my life in such a way that when I die, someone can say, “she cared.”

6. Give yourself something to work toward – constantly.

7. People fall forward to success.

8. A good goal is like a strenuous exercise – it makes you stretch.

9. For every failure, there’s an alternative course of action. You just have to find it. When you come to a roadblock, take a detour.

10. There are two things people want more than sex and money… recognition and praise.

11. Most people live and die with their music still unplayed. They never dare to try.

12. You cannot keep determined people from success. If you place stumbling blocks in their way, they will use them for stepping stones and climb to new heights.

13. Dare to risk public criticism.

14. Those who are blessed with the most talent don’t necessarily outperform everyone else. It’s the people with follow-through who excel.

15. Do you know that within your power lies every step you ever dreamed of stepping and within your power lies every joy you ever dreamed of seeing? Within yourself lies everything you ever dreamed of being. Become everything that God wants you to be. It is within your reach. Dare to grow into your dreams and claim this as your motto: Let it be me.

16. When you reach an obstacle, turn it into an opportunity. You have the choice. You can overcome and be a winner, or you can allow it to overcome you and be a loser. The choice is yours and yours alone. Refuse to throw in the towel. Go that extra mile that failures refuse to travel. It is far better to be exhausted from success than to be rested from failure.

17. A strong beginning is a good thing only when coupled with a strong finish.

18. Think about it, no one can win a race in which he had given up. You can’t win a battle for which you have surrendered.

19. Over the years, I have observed that nearly all high achievers know how to make good of those 1440 minutes in each day.

20. We didn’t set the world on fire from the first day. Disappointments, setbacks and work created the company as it is today.

21. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

22. If you act enthusiastic, you will become enthusiastic. A mediocre mind that generates enthusiasm will go further than a great idea that inspires no one.

23. I was taught to put my best into anything I did and I can honestly say I’ve always done that. Still, there are many times when I failed, when I was disappointed.

24. An average person with average talents and average ambition can outstrip the most brilliant genius in our society; if that person has clear focused goals.

25. God didn’t have time to create a nobody, just a somebody. I believe that each of us has God-given talents within us waiting to be brought to fruition. Each person is unique and special.

Mary Kay Ash was truly an inspirational woman, and her story should be told more often. In a time when women were not given equal opportunities, she did the impossible because of her grit, determination, and devotion to God.

Use this determination as we come to the close of another MK business year and as we countdown the weeks until Seminar 2018.

3 Simple Makeup Looks You Need to See

3 Simple Makeup Looks You Need to SeeAs a woman when you hit a certain magical age, you are magically expected to know how to apply pro-style makeup. We are not sure if the entire world underwent a secret Makeup 101 class in high school, but apparently a few of us were not invited. Somewhere along the way your best friend, barista, and especially that co-worker that looks like she stepped out of a runway magazine year round, managed to perfect a flawless cat-eye or learned to defy the laws of nature by removing her pores. So for the rest of us that seemed to miss the memo, here are three simple makeup looks you need to see.

3 Simple Makeup Looks You Need to See

Honestly, it is not like we need to wear makeup. If you keep up with an active skin care regiment and you feel comfortable with your routine then more power to you and keep rocking it. However, if you are starting your journey down the makeup rabbit hole or just need a refresher then welcome to your beginner's guide.

How to Fill in Your Eyebrows

Step 1:
Use an eyebrow pencil one shade lighter than your natural color and draw a thin line across the bottom of your brow starting at the inner corner.

Step 2:
Lightly fill in the rest of your eyebrows by softly shading back and forth with the side of the pencil. Don’t use the tip of the pencil or draw too close to the top edge of your eyebrow.

Step 3:
Now here comes the secret that so many don’t know about: blend, blend, blend. That little brush on the other end of your pencil does have a purpose! It is called a spoolie, and it is used to even out your eyebrows and smooth out the color. Brush your eyebrows from the inner corner of your brows working out then up and over.

How to Apply Eyeshadow

Step 1:
If you want your eyeshadow to last all day while looking insanely smooth, you will first need to create an even base. Apply a tiny amount of eyeshadow primer over your entire eyelid then sweep a nude eyeshadow over the whole lid. Blend it from your lash line all the way up to your brow bone with an eyeshadow brush.

Step 2:
Next, you will need to define the crease of your eyelid. While this might sound like a big step, it is super easy. Without some dimension, your eyelids will appear flat and dull. Swirl your eyeshadow brush in a soft and warm brown shade that is only a few shades darker than your natural color. Blend it into a downward facing “u” shape in the crease of your eyelid. You will want to blend it a little above and below your natural crease for a well-blended look.

Step 3:
Using a darker shade of brown and your blending brush, smudge it lightly on the outer corners of your lid. Add a gentle sweep along the first third of your lash line. If you find that you added too much, don’t panic just wipe out your handy dandy blending brush and blend it away.

Step 4:
Using your finger or your blending brush to blend out the eyeshadow so that there are no harsh lines or extreme contrasts.

How to Apply Flawless Liquid Eyeliner

3 Simple Makeup Looks You Need to SeeStep 1:
The goal of any eyeliner is to accentuate your natural eyes which means the first step will be to draw a baseline that follows the natural angle of your lower lash line. Extend this line toward the tail of your eyebrow. If you feel at all nervous about this step, you can use your liner cap as a guide. Position it at the end of your eyebrow and lightly dot the spot where you want your wing to end. Then draw the line starting at the outer corner of your eye to the dot.

Step 2:
Starting at the inner corner of your eye gently run your liquid eyeliner along your lash line in short even strokes. Depending on the shape of your eyes you will want to keep your eyeliner thin. Too thick of a line will make your eyes appear smaller, counteracting the goal.

Step 3:
Now you will want to connect the two lines and even out the seam of where they meet. Finish off your eyeliner by drawing a final swoop wing from the center of your lid up to the end of the wing. If you made a mistake use a Q-tip and makeup remover to give your eyeliner that polished look
