Makeup Tips For Mature Skin

Global Makeover Day is Tomorrow! The Heroes as UnitWise are super excited to see all your GMD festivities. To help you be the best Makeover Specialists here are some great makeup tips for mature skin.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize
You may already know moisturizing the skin before you apply makeup is essential but do you know why? Pampering your skin with moisturizer before you apply foundation and concealer will temporarily plump up skin - making those fine lines a little less visible. Moisturizing before foundation application also helps it glide on much more smoothly.

Foundation Education
Some mature women still use the same foundation they used 10 years ago. This is no good. You skin changes not only yearly, but seasonally. In winter months, you may need a creamy formula. In summer months you may find your skin become oily and a tinted moisturizer is all you need.

The Secret Lip Plumper
As you get older, your lips seem to appear thinner. But it is super simple to make them appear fuller without harmful injections. To plump them up, lip gloss is your best bet. Nothing works better - all you need to do is add a little color first by filling in lips with a lip liner or lipstick a shade or 2 darker than your natural lip color, not to much darker-just slightly. Then add a dab of gloss on top and voila! Instant lip plumper.

Avoid Dark Lipsticks
Unless you have dark skin and plump lips, it is best to stay away from super dark lipstick, which ages everyone. Rosy reds and pinks are better bets.

Just Say No To Liquid Liners
Eye pencils are softer on liquid liners, which can be harsh on aging eyes. To soften the line even more, smudge it with a q-tip or angle brush. If you liner isn't going on very smooth, take a lighter and run the tip through the flame once or twice and it will glide perfectly on your skin. Don't line the inside of the eye if you have smaller eyes, it makes the eye appear tiny.

Make Your Eyes the Center of Attention
You have a beautiful face, and making your eyes the main focal point of your face will detract attention from any fine lines. Enhance your eye color with eyeshadow shades that will make your eyes pop. MK has put together great shadow sets that coordinate with every eye color, but if you are not sure what works best here is the break down:
  • Brown/Hazel Eyes - golds, browns, and blues
  • Blue Eyes - blue-gray, coppers, gold, and browns
  • Green Eyes - golds, browns, purples, and burgundy shades
It's PRIMER Time
Just as you prime a wall with primer before you paint it, the secret to flawless makeup lies in makeup primer. Applying a layer of primer between your skin and makeup will help your eyeshadow, foundation, and mascara glide on flawlessly - and most importantly - stay put. Layer primer between your moisturizer and your foundation for best results.

The Wonderful World of Highlighters and Illuminators
Highlighters lift the face instantly and shave off a few years. To get the most out of highlighters and illuminators you have to know where to apply them. MK has a great video on facial highlighting and shows you exactly how to do it.

Give Your Lashes A Curl, Girl
Curling your lashes opens up your eyes and makes them pop. To get your lashes to keep their curl all day try warming up your lash curler with a blow dryer for 3 seconds and then curl away. Make sure to test the metal on your arm first so you don't burn you lid. Then apply a couple sweeps of mascara to and (poof) gorgeous eyes!

With these tips and some great MK makeup & skin care you will perform amazing makeovers for Global Makeover Day!
