How Beauty Consultants Properly Manage Invoices

You already know that a major aspect of making your business work is actually getting paid. However, as an NSD, director, or independent beauty consultant getting paid can come with a few hurdles. You have to be able to accept payments at parties, set up invoices, remember to follow up on bills, and more!

How do you have time for all that accounting?! Don’t you know that you can leap those hurdles and challenges and easily maintain all of your invoices and bills with UnitWise?

What’s UnitWise?

UnitWise is the virtual assistant that everyone in the beauty consulting industry needs. It’s the online management solution specifically designed for NSDs, directors, and independent beauty consultants to help them save time and easily manage their entire business from their smartphones or computers.

In order to simplify business management UnitWise has tons of features to offer for unit management, conference calls, email marketing, accounting, invoicing, billing, and more.

Receipts With UnitWise

Whenever a sale is made, the customer gets a receipt, which can be a little hard to create when you’re hosting a makeup party. That’s why UnitWise allows you to create sales receipts online, right from your smartphone.

A sale can be made safe and securely right on your phone at a party because UnitWise uses ProPray to protect your client’s card information. Your client can type in their debit or credit card information and it won’t be visible to you or stored on your phone, then you can send them a receipt via email.

You can also factor in if you received the payment in cash, or with a check. If the payment is partially paid in cash and the rest is covered with a card then those details can easily be added to the receipt and your records. Receipts and invoices can also be printed.

The receipt will be added to your sales history and will be totaled into a series of financial reports you can generate and access at any time. Plus, the items from your receipt will be automatically taken out of your inventory.

When creating a sales or invoice you can easily search for the products sold by their name or description and add notes about the customer or sale. You can also add memos to the order, which your clients will not be able to see.

Each customer will have their own profile in UnitWise that lists their name, contact information, and sales history, so you can easily keep track of and manage all of your clients.

Invoices With UnitWise

A sales receipt is created when an order is paid in full, and an invoice is created when the order is not paid in full. With UnitWise you can create custom invoices for clients who want to pay for their orders over time.

You can set up a payment plan for each client to pay a certain amount of their bill on either a weekly or monthly basis, with a custom date set for each payment deadline.

When you make an invoice you will receive automatic reminders when the customer’s payment is due, but you can easily turn those notifications off if you do not wish to receive them.

You can also enter historic invoices to enter in a customer’s sales information from the past, and your inventory levels will not be affected.

Also, in order to avoid the hassle of meeting up with your client to receive payments every time an invoice is due, you can create portals on UnitWise for your clients to log into and safely and securely make their payments online.

Manage Your Invoices Like a Pro

What are you waiting for? Sign up for your free 15-day trial with UnitWise today to instantly see how easy it can be to manage all of your receipts, bills, and invoices. Also, you can take advantage of all of the innovative features for managing your social media, financial tracking, inventory management, contact management, and more.

Flashback Friday: The History of Face Masks

Have you noticed the uproar for face masks lately? Maybe it’s just us, but it seems like face masks are being pushed everywhere we go. It’s great because winter is hitting our skin hard by drying it out and making it irritated with cold, dry, conditions. Plus, there’s nothing like a warm bath and relaxing face mask on a cold winter evening

Alright, so maybe we’re excited about the face mask craze. In fact, we’re so excited, we just can’t hide it, and we’re going to tell you all about their history because the love for face masks isn’t a new thing at all!

Face Masks In History

Does it sometimes feel like you were born with a natural love for facials? No one taught you to love face masks, you just are drawn to them. This is because humans have been obsessed with facial masks for centuries.

There is a long history of people wanting to enhance their skin tones, clean up their acne, tighten their skin, moisturize it, and tone it, all with masks. The first masks came from fruit juices and mud, and some methods were so beneficial, like mud from the Dead Sea, that it’s still being used today.

People actually rubbed these mixtures on their faces and wore them for about 15 minutes before washing them off or waited for them to dry before easily peeling them off.

There were also masks that involved using sand to exfoliate dead skin away for a soft and smooth complexion.

Your girl, Queen Cleopatra was slaying as she used a mask made from egg whites to tighten her skin. Other methods in Egypt involved using olive oil, aloe vera, beeswax, honey, and peppermint oil to protect the sky from harsh desert conditions.

Captain cook loved sailing around to tropical areas and was known to take a few coconuts to use to oil on his face to get rid of his acne. The poor guy had to travel by boat for weeks to get his skincare products of choice.

You can’t forget about the herbal specialists over in Asia who used items like white jade, ginseng, and lotus blossom roots to clean the face. Plus, there was nothing like ground up rice powder to brighten their skin tone.

However, the history of skin care masks isn’t all glam, it actually has a dark past of people doing anything for beauty, making the saying beauty is pain all too real. Elizabeth Bathory gets a shout out because she used the blood of children on her face to look young. The more youthful the child, the better the blood.

Also, it was popular in Rome and during the victorian era to put poison on your face for beauty. Face masks included large amounts of lead, radium, raw meat, bleach, and more. People were dying because of them! These items burned the skin away leading to awful scars and marks, that would have to be covered up with more poisonous mixtures.

Luckily, today the FDA regulates our beauty products to keep harmful items like lead and other poisons out of them, so we can embrace the joy of toned, moisturized, and clean skin without adverse health effects.

Don’t Mask Your Excitement

Go ahead and treat yourself to a facial! You deserve it. Both men and women have been using face masks for centuries. We even still use some of the mud and ingredients that were used centuries ago, like Dead Sea mud, aloe vera, honey, beeswax, and more!

For more beauty tips visit and please share your comments about your favorite face masks below!

How To Sync Your InTouch Account with UnitWise

Chances are that if you’re an independent beauty consultant, NSD, or Director then you have a lot of contacts. You have your leads, your customers, your unit members, friends, family, and more all on your phone.

How do you keep all of those people organized?! Hopefully, you have an app for that, and you aren’t carrying a contact book around like it’s 1992. If you need a way to organize your contacts UnitWise and InTouch can help.

What’s InTouch

InTouch is the Mary Kay management program that’s offered by Mary Kay. If you have a Mary Kay account, then you probably have access to InTouch. With InTouch, you can do things like order more products and manage your customers, but the program has a few gaps with unit management.

What’s UnitWise

UnitWise is the complete beauty consultant business management solution. It covers everything from email marketing, messaging your unit members, managing your contacts, managing your inventory, accounting, and more. It fills in the gaps that Intouch has, and even gives you free access to MyUnitBuzz, the all inclusive unit communication app. Everything you need is kept in one convenient location, right at your fingertip with UnitWise. Plus, with its innovative mobile app you can check in at your business at any time, from any location.

Syncing Your Customers From InTouch to UnitWise

The developers at UnitWise have you in mind, which is why they made transferring your contacts from InTouch to UnitWise an extremely simple process.

All you have to do is log into your UnitWise account, click the Customers tab, click Customer’s Center, and click sync. You have a few options as to what information you would like to pull from InTouch. For example, you can transfer your contacts names, names and email addresses, or email addresses only to fit your personal preferences.

If you have contacts in both UnitWise and Intouch then click the overlay option to make sure that you don’t import contacts that you already have.

Once you’ve selected the sync option that works best for your needs then click the ‘Sync InTouch Customers’ button. All of your Intouch contacts will be transferred to UnitWise in the background and you can actually work on other parts of your business with UnitWise during this quick and easy process.

Client Management With UnitWise

With UnitWise all of your clients have their own individual profiles where you can add notes about them. For example, you can list information about their skin type, family, or hobbies. This way when you call Jennifer to see if she would like to reorder a product you’ll have notes detailing if she prefers to be called Jen, and can ask about how her 5K training is going.

If you took notes about her dry skin, you can offer her a new type of moisturizer. These notes will give you the ability to be an involved sales person who seems to really care, instead of someone just trying to push a product.

You can also organize all of your clients into different groups, and the names of your groups are 100% customizable. You can create a group for your leads, repeat customers, matte lipstick lovers, and more.

Then you can target those groups with marketing emails to entice them to buy. For example, send an email to your leads offering them a 10% discount on their first order, or send a buy 3 get 1 free coupon to your matte lipstick lovers group.

Best of all, the emails have an easy-to-use template that you can easily drag and drop any images into. You can create them in a matter of minutes.

Get Started With UnitWise

Take advantage of your free 15-day trial with UnitWise today to see how it will help you save time while effectively managing your entire business. How To Lead Your Unit To Victory

“Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember you can achieve.” -- Mary Kay Ash

We opened with a quote from Mary Kay in honor of the to Ruby and Sapphire leadership conferences that are happening in New Orleans right now! Many NSDs, Directors, Independent Beauty Consultants, Unit Members, and more are flocking to Bourbon street to celebrate their careers and learn how to advance them.

Now ladies, make sure this conference isn’t all creole eating and drinking too many fruity drinks with umbrellas! We know what happens in New Orleans might need to stay there. We encourage you to have a good time but also take the time to see what you can learn. In case your trip goes by too quickly in a blur we have some tips you can take away about being a good leader.

How To Be a Great Leader

Being a good leader takes practice and self-awareness. Know what your strengths and weaknesses are, and know what areas you need to improve in. If you don’t like talking in front of groups practice public speaking. Pretend you’re addressing a group during your daily routine or join the community theater to get experience as the center of attention.

If you need to practice being a little more social then go out and make small talk. Ask strangers how they’re doing or join a recreational club and get involved with others. Also, practice being firm. Telling your team members that something isn’t okay, or firing someone can be extremely uncomfortable, but you have to keep a confident face and attitude during the process.

As a leader, you’re a role model. It’s important to be positive. Wear that beautiful smile of yours, laugh, and be confident. If a stressful situation occurs, don’t lose your cool. Work through it, or be confident and tell your team that you’ll figure it out. Never lose your cool with cursing or yelling at someone.

Lead by example. You can yammer on all day about how to get more sales, but your team will learn more if you show them how. Let them sit in on conference calls, show them how to approach strangers with your card, and invite them to watch your makeup parties.

However, being a leader isn’t actually all about you. You’re a part of your team, so create an environment that promotes teamwork. Encourage creativity instead of day to day tasks, and ask for feedback about your ideas. Collaborate and ask for ideas, you’ll be surprised with how much you can learn from your team.

Always give credit where credit is due and share the spotlight. If one of your unit members has a good idea, let them know that it’s good and share it with the rest of the group.

You also need to simply be human and approachable. Get to know your team by asking them personal questions and following up later by asking for more details about their family, hobbies, or pets. Be quick to say you’re sorry when you were wrong about something, and just be honest when you don’t have the answer to something.

Your team needs to be challenged so be sure to set goals for them to complete and gradually add to their roles over time. Make sure that they’re in a positive environment where the sky's the limit, and it’s about what they can do, instead of sticking to a budget or limiting potential.

Enjoy Your Conference!

We at UnitWise sincerely hope you have a great time enjoying the ruby and sapphire conference. Remember to play hard, and work hard. It’s a new year so hopefully, you’ll walk away with new leadership skills to motivate your team and new sales techniques to make 2017 your most profitable year so far!

Beauty Consultants Use These Steps For More Sales

Alright, now that the holidays have passed and you’re returning to your normal groove it’s time focus on your business. 2017 is your year to take your beauty consulting business to new levels of success, and the trick to doing that is by getting more sales. Stick with UnitWise to learn all the tips and tricks to not only make it, but to thrive as an NSD, director, or independent beauty consultant.

UnitWise is the secret weapon used by leading NSD, directors, and independent beauty consultants because it’s the complete beauty consultant business management solution. It’s designed to help individuals in the beauty consultant industry save time while effectively managing their business.

Plus, it only takes a few minutes to get started then you’ll have access to tons of innovative features for email marketing, inventory management, accounting, tracking expenses, and more.

How To Get More Sales

Set Up A Referral Program

Sometimes the best way to get more sales to have your customers spread the word about your business and services to other people. Now this can be done by providing your customers with spectacular service and quality products, so they’ll just have to rant and rave about them to their friends.

Or you can cut to the chase and entice them with a free item with a referral program. All you have to do is offer your customers something in return for a few minutes of their time. For example, maybe if they get five people to sign up for your marketing emails they can have a free shade of lipstick. Also, if they get four friends to buy the White Tea and Citrus Satin Hands Pampering Set they’ll get the White Tea and Citrus Satin Hand Nourishing Shea Cream for free.

Referral programs are a proven method of sales, that get your clients to do the work for you. The products you offer can be big and small and the work your clients do for them can vary because the creative possibilities are endless.

2. Be Honest

Do you remember those TV ads back in the day that pushed products as absolute miracle workers? Like stackable Tupperware containers that will transform your kitchen into the best, cleanest place to cook in the world? People have caught on to that and grown skeptical.

Customers don’t want to hear insane claims about makeup making them look 25 years younger, they want to know the truth about what it can really do. So, don’t oversell a product, be realistic instead.

For example, most acne products aren’t instant miracle workers, they take about a month to clear up your skin. We aren’t saying to not push the benefits, by all means, spread the word about how your acne products will clear up your skin, and make it feel soft, just don’t push intense claims about it.

3. Be Promotionally Prepared

With UnitWise you can schedule email blasts to go out in advance to plan promotions for holidays and events in advance. You could have had your new year’s deals planned two weeks ahead of time, to avoid scrambling on new year’s day to put a sale together.

Along with emails, you can plan your social media plans in advance to boost promotions. By taking the time to plan out your sales you can think about what certain event is coming up to really hook your audience instead of missing out on an advertising opportunity.

You always need your business cards with you. There are opportunities to push your business everywhere you go, every day. You might see someone touching up their makeup in the restroom and can offer them your card, or you can leave a few behind at a fancy restaurant. You could even give out your card while simply introducing yourself to strangers. Remember, those who get opportunities are the ones who go out there and take them.

4. Organize Workshops

The key element to beauty consulting sales is makeup parties. Even if you find yourself becoming well established, don’t skip out on the workshops. You’ll boost your name and repetition by hosting as many parties as you can.

Some people are intimidated by makeup or don’t even know about certain products that are out there, and the best way to sell items to them is by showing them how to use it.

Plus, you can plan different makeup parties around different themes. Valentine's day is coming up, so you can plan a luscious lip workshop, or you can plan a glamor eye tutorial to help people prepare for Saint Patrick’s day.

Rock Those Sales Today

Why wait? The clock is already ticking. Make 2017 the best year for your sales that you’ve ever had with a little promotional planning, honesty, and hard work. Plus you can check out UnitWise to help you save time while efficiently managing your entire business online. Sign up for your free 15-day trial today.

Sales Receipts

To create a sales receipt click on ‘Create Sales Receipt” from the shortcut menu or click the ‘Customers Tab’ then click ‘Sales Receipt’. Inventory Management

To make sure your inventory numbers are correct UnitWise allows you to import your orders from Intouch. You can import orders up to 45 days after shipping. This upload will take place in the background of UnitWise so you can manage other aspects of your business as your inventory updates.

As an invoice or sale receipt is created the inventory levels will automatically update based off of the amount of products sold.

However, to edit your inventory to match your totals after doing a physical count click the Inventory tab then click bulk edit. Then a full list of your inventory will appear and you can double click the number under the Quantity on Hand tab to edit your inventory numbers.

Entering Personal Use or Demo Products

To keep track of inventory items under the Customer Center click add new, then select customer and give them a name like Personal Use, Demo Product, or Donation. How To Permanently Remove Embarrassing Blackheads

Yuck, blackheads, am I right? Everybody gets them and as far as we know, nobody likes them. However, they’re a naturally occurring process as a result of our body functioning, so they shouldn’t actually be considered that gross.

As your sebaceous glands in your produce sebum oil to keep your skin moist it can produce excess oil that clogs your pores along with dead skin cells, producing a pimple. If the pore is closed the head stays white, but if it’s open the air oxidizes the sebum and it turns black.

Now that we know what they are, we still don’t like them. So, we will tell you how to get rid of them.

First, Here is What Not to do

Don’t over exfoliate your skin. That could dry it out, and irritate it, which could cause your sebaceous glands to produce even more sebum, putting you back at square one.

Also, don’t squeeze and pick at your blackheads. They are too many of them, it’s a losing battle. Plus doing so could irritate the skin, cause swelling, redness, blemishes, and scars!

Here Are The Right Ways To Fight Blackheads

Simply step up your game a little. Wash your face twice a day, morning and night. Even if you don’t shower in the morning take a few minutes to wash your face and freshen up your skin. Also, if you don’t shower at night, remove that pore clogging makeup and never forget to moisturize. Keep your skin nice and hydrated by moisturizing after every wash.

If washing your face on a more regular basis doesn't help, look at the products you’re using. Maybe you should consider switching to a face wash that specifically targets blackheads.

Products with salicylic acid in them like an acne gel, face wash, or cleansing pads are the go to products because salicylic acid penetrates deep into pores to exfoliate oil and dead skin cells away.

You could invest in an exfoliating brush that’s battery powered and use it twice a week to brush dead skill cells and blackheads away.

Beefing up your workout routine will help you sweat the blackheads out, literally. As sweat moves through your pores it cleans them out. Aside from hitting the gym, you can sweat out blackheads in the sauna or steam them out by holding your head over a bowl of hot water with a towel draped over your head.

You could use nose strips, which are pretty effective at pulling out blackheads, but they have their downsides. Even though they make strips for your forehead and chin too, but the strips just don’t fully cover blackhead areas. Plus, sometimes they leave a lot of sticky goop behind that you have to scrub off.

Clay masks, on the other hand, pull blackheads out of your skin along with oil and other impurities. They also replenish your skin with vitamin and minerals and improve the circulation in your face to energize your skin with a lively look. Just remember to use a little extra moisturizer after removing a clay mask, as they can dry your skin out.

There are actually a lot of DYI mask you can create at home to get rid of blackheads. For example, you can create an egg white mask, a raw honey and milk mask, a cinnamon and honey mask, a green tea mask, a tomato and lemon mask, a yogurt and oatmeal mask, and more. It only takes a few seconds to whip up homemade masks yourself for a relaxing facial cleanse.

You can also use items found around the house as skin toners. For example, many people use lemon juice to tighten their pores. However, if your skin is sensitive lemon juice should be avoided, and it also makes your skin more susceptible to sunburns so put on that sunscreen afterward. Apple cider vinegar and mint also tone the skin.

Blackheads? Where?

Get rid of those icky blackheads and rock your flawless skin with confidence. It only takes a little bit of extra skincare to finally say bon voyage to tons of blackheads and pimples. Also, be sure to keep checking back with UnitWise for more skincare tips, and share your blackhead remedies in the comment section below.

You can give each account it’s own category, transaction date, the name of the account the payment was made to or from, the type of payment, the payee or payer, and the amount. This way you’ll clearly be able to see who you paid, when you paid them, and how you paid them. You’ll also see the amount of money that came out of a particular account. Plus, you can edit these details at any time.

Remember these accounts aren’t actually tied to your banking accounts. You will have to manually enter the balance of your accounts and add transactions when they occur. Luckily this process can be completed in a matter of seconds, right from your smartphone.

When you click on the name of the account you’ll see the balance of the account at the top the page as well as a list of your previous transactions. Based off of your personal preferences you can view a list of your last 10, 25, 50, or 100 transactions to see what exactly is going on in your account. You can also view your expenses, a list of your payees and more.

UnitWise makes it extremely easy to split up transactions between multiple accounts if need be, and you can also easily transfer funds between your different accounts.

Once you record a new transaction it will appear at the top of your list under the expenses category in the expenses tab.

Organization is always key, that’s why you all of your different account types will be grouped together. For example, all of your credit card accounts will be linked together so you can manage them all at once.

Also, if an account is a recurring expense like a monthly subscription you can mark it as such, and the total will be automatically accounted for. Just be sure to select the day of the month when the subscription is due.
