Using Text Blast in UnitWise

Text Blast is a very useful Additional Feature within the UnitWise program.  This allows you to keep in contact with your Unit wherever they may be. This feature may be accessed in the "Marketing" menu.  Like Director Double, this is an additional Feature within UnitWise.  For a low monthly rate, you can send unlimited text messages to up to 50 contacts.  If you need to send messages to more contacts, you can sign up for a larger Text Blast account.  

You can send texts to anyone in your address book.  You can also create Text Groups.  After you select who to receive text messages they will then receive the option to approve or deny texts from you.  If they choose to accept your text messages, then they will be added to your text contacts.  Keeping in touch has never been easier!

Hello Super Stars!

Spring is in the air!  I’m so excited about these new Spring products and are you not loving our new foundation?  I hope you have contacted every one of your customers!  Next week we are doing a Swap & Save at our unit meeting. I put together an email marketing piece and sent it to all of my local customers to invite them to swap their not so favorite color items for the comparable color item in our line for a discount.  I also included a note about the new issue of the Look that should have made it to their mail box. If not, I linked an image of the look to my online e-catalog for their convenience.  

I will share with you, I didn’t have the Contact Group set up for my local customers so I had to go in and create it. Here’s what I did. I went to my UW Dashboard and clicked on Customers>Contact Groups. From there I clicked on Add a Contact Group and gave it a name Local Customers.  From there you can add members and an alphabetized list will appear to your left.  You can sort each of the columns which is helpful because all of your contacts are in one place.  Thanks to UW they have color coded our customers green.  So I clicked on the little arrows at the top of the column to lump all of my customers together and then selected the check box next to the name of my local customers!  Now, the best part is going forward when you add a new customer to your database, you will see this new Contact Group available in their profile. So as you add customers you can sort them into the appropriate contact groups and make email marketing so easy!

New UnitWise Feature: Director Double

UnitWise is Proud to now be offering Director Double!  This Additional Feature allows you to send professionally designed email templates to your Unit!  

There are three different packages to choose from.  The Empress Collection includes 10 Customer Templates and 10 Team Member Templates.  The Queen Collection includes 5 Customer Templates and 5 Team Member Templates.  The Princess Collection contains 10 Customer Templates.  Each of these packages is updated monthly with new custom designed email templates.

The differences between Director Double and creating an email template yourself are: Director Double templates are professionally designed and There is no need to edit the text of these templates because they are already built for a specific purpose.  There are templates for Birthdays, Thank You notes, Inspiration, and many more.

Elizabeth Taylor: A Life Well Remembered

In 1986, Vincent Camby wrote the following about Elizabeth Taylor: “More than anyone else I can think of, Elizabeth Taylor represents the complete movie phenomenon — what movies are as an art and an industry and what they have meant to those of us who have grown up watching them in the dark.” 

Elizabeth Taylor was indeed, quite the phenomenon.  She possessed such poise and elegance, while also having a fiery passion and an incredibly wide range as an actress.  Although she had little professional training, she was in the movies her whole life.  At 11 years old, she was starring alongside Mickey Rooney in the classic film "National Velvet."  She went on to explore more than 50 unique roles in her cinematic career.  She is notably remembered for her performances as Maggie the Cat in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof",  Gloria in "Butterfield 8", Martha of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?", and of course her portrayal of Cleopatra.

Hello Stars!

I hope you had a fabulous finish to Quarter 3 as a Star.  And, if you did not quite make it this time, go ahead and start now and map out your way to Star this quarter!  Mary Kay herself created this program to allow us to have a track to run on and place for ALL consultants, part-time and full-time to be celebrated for their achievements.  So, with that said I want to be sure that you know it takes $300 in retail sales per week to achieve Sapphire Star Consultant Status. One of the best ways to get you on track right out of the starting gate is with our amazing Preferred Customer Program.  The timing couldn’t be better!  I suggest you send an announcement to your customers with an Email Marketing piece letting them know the new Spring Issue of the Look will be arriving in their mail boxes soon. This gives them a heads up so they are sure to catch it when it first comes in the mail. I like to include the picture of the Look and the new Mini Brush Set as their gift with any $40 or more purchase!  This creates anticipation and excitement about the new products.  Mary Kay is right on trend and our customers depend on us to show them what’s hot for the season!  Remember to include the image URL of the Look from YOUR personal website so when your customers click on it from your email they will be directed to your personal Mary Kay website!  You could even offer them an incentive when they sit down with you to give you their opinion on the new spring product line! For example, a free new Compact Mini (unfilled)!  Let them know the more women they have come play with you, the more she can earn free!

Why Limited Edition?

I get a lot of questions about Limited Edition products through out the years. Why do we offer products that the customer falls in love with and then can't reorder?  There are numerous answers to this...
1- Ltd is usually color that lasts 1-4 years and be then, it's probably out of style and they are ready for something new.
2- Like seasonal clothes, I buy outfits/tops that I know will only last 1-2 seasons...these are just fun, seasonal colors and should be sold that way.  Spice up your cosmetic staples with a splash of color and fun.
3- Ltd items gives a quarterly reason to contact our clients for something new and fun...and limited gives them a sense of urgency.
4- Ltd is a great way for the company to test market a new product option.  Lots of Ltd items have come into our product line as a regular item because of popular the creamy cheek colors.
5- Ltd items is a way to keep you from having to stock thousands of color options.  I am always wanting something new and I have one of everything in our product line after 21 years of using MK so the Ltd items keeps me fresh and excited too. So I am a better Consultant.
The other question I get is how to handle inventory...
1- Immediately buy 2 of each to demo and one for YOU!  If you are wearing it, they will want it!
2- After your initial week or two, purchase what was ordered by clients and few extras to continue selling.
3- I demo what I have in stock once the item is no longer in the Look Book or out of stock with the company.  If I still have, say, the Glimmer Eye Sticks in inventory then I will keep the demos in my Makeover Bags to show and sell.  Once I am out of stock then I either give away the demo to a client, my assistant or my daughter.
4- I will often give the past Ltd overstocks as gifts to Hostesses, put in my Goodie Bags for doorprize drawings or put into Gift Baskets that I sell at Christmas, etc.
5- Long past Ltd overstocks go into my Sale Basket of buy one, get one of equal or lesser value free.  Incentive for clients to come to me because they get to go through my Sale Basket.  I don't take my Sale Basket to appointments.
6- Lastly, if I have an item that just didn't sell...usually because I wasn't fired up about it...then after 2 years, I will donate it to the Women's Shelter, Pregnancy Homes for Teens or other charity and write it off on my taxes.

Import Customers and Consultants From InTouch

UnitWise is proud to announce that it is now much easier to import your Customers and Consultants from InTouch.  There have been other ways of doing this in the past, but thanks to all of your suggestions, The Heroes have made this process Much Easier.  

There are 2 ways to import info From InTouch:
1.  Export from InTouch into UnitWise
       -Allows you to pick and choose who to import into UnitWise
2.  Sync Seamlessly between InTouch and UnitWise
       -If InTouch and UnitWise are mirror of each other, use this option.

Effortless Purchase Order Import!

I have a quick and very useful tip for you today!

Are you importing your orders from Mary Kay into UW?  This is a new and improved import tool that makes it SO easy to import your orders and keep your inventory current!  Here’s how you do it.  Go to and click on Estimated Wholesale Production on the center of your homepage.  Then click on the order you want to import.  At the top of that page you can highlight and copy and paste the URL.  This URL is all you need now to import your order!  Go back to UW and then go to Inventory>Order from MK>Create Purchase Order.  At the bottom of the invoicing section you will see an Import from Intouch button.  Click there and you can paste your URL and click on Import Products. YOU’RE DONE!!  Love it!

The final four months of our Seminar year are here!  The buzz about our new foundations is clearly in the air! Set yourself up for success this month and see yourself achieving great things! Time management plays a big part in our success, wouldn't you agree?
I hope you’re keeping up to date with the Newsflash on your UW dashboard.  The team at UW is constantly improving the site and making us more and more efficient every day!  I have a productivity tip for you in regards to composing emails for promotions, birthdays, and unit announcements.  Month to month and even week to week you have some emails that are pretty consistent and a template would be a great feature to use.  You can schedule your emails to go out to specific target groups, birthdays, and unit members at the time you choose.  I have to admit, this feature comes in handy for me because I am more of a night-owl. However, I prefer my customers and consultants receive my emails early morning. If I start to write emails in the early morning, they may not get done as I get busy with appointments.  So, planning the night before, a few days or even weeks ahead of time with templates and marketing schedules can be a huge time saver!
