Happy Halloween from the Heroes!

Happy Halloween from the Heroes!

On Wednesday, Margrette gave you some great tips on how to use the holiday to your advantage. Offering holiday specials is a great way to bring in new customers.

You know what's another way to bring in folks? Candy! Okay...maybe that's not the best way to attract new customers, but their kids will love it! Speaking of kids, here's some adorable Heroes in training for you.

Don't forget, we've got a new webinar coming up next Thursday, Nov 4. It will walk you through the first half of the program. It's a great webinar for UnitWise newbies and veterans alike! Go to to register!

Some Boo-tiful marketing tips!

Margrette Field, an Independent Sales Director from Vista, CA. Margrette will post a blog each Wednesday full of tips, tricks, info and advice for other consultants and directors. Be sure to check back each week!
Hello, Boo-tiful!

Can you believe Halloween is just right around the corner?

As you’re getting your last minute costume ideas ready for the kids here’s a fun idea to incorporate your business into this holiday.  If you have little kids you’ll probably be out in the neighborhood walking around with them or you may be handing out candy as kids come to your door.  Why not hand out a gift certificate or coupon for Mom this Halloween for a Boo-tiful Makeover? It’s a great way to introduce the neighbors to the fact that you’re a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant!

I’d like to share another great idea and this one comes from Senior Sales Director Sherrian Beagle!  Every year, Sherrian offers a Boo-A-Thon.  You just pick a day in October for your Boo Sale and the discount matches the date. For example, 30% off on the 30th. This is recommended over 31% on Halloween because it falls on a Sunday.  This is a great way to move out product fast!

Here’s how to do it in UnitWise!  Go to the Marketing tab and click on “Email Template”.  This is where you will create the template for this sale.  Then you can schedule an email marketing campaign for your customers!  It’s so easy.  After you created the template, go to “Email Marketing” under the same Marketing tab.  Here you can schedule the email to go out at a certain time and you can decide which customers you’d like to send it to by selecting which group you prefer!  If you have any questions on this idea you can refer to Video Guide located on your UnitWise homepage

Got questions? The Heroes have answers.

The following is an actual conversation that took place between a UnitWise customer and one of the Heroes through our live chat.

Angelo: Hey Tara, how can I help you?
Tara: I’m thinking about switching to UnitWise. I want to know if I can bring some of my information with me.
Angelo: You sure can. You might want to check our video guides, which can be found here: We can bring in information from a number of different programs, including Intouch
Tara: Great, I’ll check those out. What about operating system and computer? What do I need to run UnitWise?
Angelo: Anything! UnitWise is a full program that runs in your internet browser. If you can get the internet, you can run UnitWise. That means PC, Mac, smartphones, iPads, etc.
Tara: I was about to ask about phones too. I’m getting a new phone soon. Should I stay with Blackberry or switch to something else?
Angelo: Any smart phone will do. If it has a mobile browser you can access UnitWise. Also, we are hard at work on a mobile version that will work on all smart phones. It should be done in November.
Tara: Wow. Okay. I like the idea of mobility, using it anywhere. What about back ups?
Angelo: Our servers back up information every 30 seconds. So your information is safe. You can also export, save, and print information from UnitWise if you want copies.
Tara: Not bad. It looks like you guys thought of it all. I think I’ll give it a try.
Angelo: Great! Make sure to use the code FALL2010 when signing up so you’ll get a full 30 days free. Need any help picking a plan?
Tara: Actually now that you ask…
Tara: I’m a consultant, but I plan on debuting as a director in the next six months or so. What plan should I get?
Angelo: If you're going to be a director soon, you'll probably want to have a website with a training center. I recommend the full Consultant package--this one comes with all the business management features and a fully customizable website.
Tara: Can I just upgrade when I'm a director?
Angelo: Yes. And if you go with the full consultant package, you'll have a head start on the website. Moving to the Director package will get you the Training Center, and a few other Director-only features.
Tara: OK. That's great. I think I'll go with that then. Thanks, you've been very helpful.
Angelo: Thank you, we're here if you need us. Make sure to check out the Startup Guide when you're done signing up. If you have any questions, email, chat or call us.
Tara: Will do Angelo, thank you, have a blessed day :)
Angelo: You too Tara!

Hundreds of chat like this happen every week. The Heroes are there to help you learn the program, and get you started. If you're curious about UnitWise, contact a Hero, they're just a click or call or away.

Stay two steps ahead

Margrette Field, an Independent Sales Director from Vista, CA. Margrette will post a blog each Wednesday full of tips, tricks, info and advice for other consultants and directors. Be sure to check back each week!
Hello, Gorgeous!

Last week I shared how you can keep on track with your sales goal for the month by looking on your UnitWise Dashboard.  I hope you’re on track and you are on your way to completing that sales goal!

I LOVE the fact that UnitWise has a built in reminder feature in our Calendar.  Here are just a few examples of ways I use this awesome feature in my business.

  • Customer Birthday Specials - Last day of the month I set a reminder to send out my special for the upcoming month.  I also have a reminder set up to follow up on the 15th of the upcoming month to remind my customers they still have time to shop with me! And, then on the last day of the month of their birthday I send out a “last chance” email marketing template.
  • 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months follow up for new customers and/or even current customers that recently ordered.  This way I am reminded to follow up with a quick call to make sure they received their order ok if shipped, see how their products are working for them, or just a quick thank you for being a great customer!  The best part is that the name and number is right there so you have their info at your fingertips as soon as the reminder comes up. You just dial! (PS - You can set these reminders to meet your own preferences)
  • Appointment Coaching Reminders – 2 days after I schedule an appointment to get a guest list, 2 days prior to the appointment to say I can’t wait to see them and 2 hours prior to the appointment to confirm directions.
  • Preferred Customer Program Enrollment dates and deadlines. (I recommend entering the enrollment deadline AND the expected delivery date to know when to start following up!)
  • Reminders for any sales I run annually for my customers.  I set the reminder a month prior so I can review the sale and see if I want to make any updates and/or changes.  This also allows time if I decide to order postcards or get anything else printed.

The possibilities are really endless!  There are so many ways to keep yourself two steps ahead in your business.  I think we often times try to keep too much in our heads and by utilizing technology this way we can be more focused and productive!

Happy Selling!

Sync Intouch to UnitWise!

We’ve got an exciting new feature that will make keeping track of all your customers even easier. You can now sync your Intouch account with UnitWise!

Here’s how it works, say you just entered 13 new customers into your Intouch account and you want them in UnitWise. Now, instead of exporting them, saving the file, then importing it, you just go to the Customer Center and click on the Import button. Choose New Intouch Customers from the drop down menu.

You’ll see a pop-up that will ask you to enter your Intouch info. Put it in there and then choose how you want to merge customers (that is if the ones you’re bringing in are already in your UnitWise customer list).

UnitWise will process your request in the background and send you an email when the import is complete (the more people you import, the longer it could take). Isn’t that awesome?

There are a couple of things to note about this new feature:
-It’s a one way sync from Intouch to UnitWise. So add them in Intouch first.
-You’ll only need to input your Intouch credentials for the import the first time
-The import feature brings in the following info: name, email, phone number and address

This feature is live right now. So login and check it out!

Set your sales goals!

Margrette Field, an Independent Sales Director from Vista, CA. Margrette will post a blog each Wednesday full of tips, tricks, info and advice for other consultants and directors. Be sure to check back each week!
Hello Beautiful!  Thank you for your comments last week!  Keep ‘em coming!

In our business we are encouraged to never compare ourselves to others. We are all on our own journey to success. Sometimes we zoom to the top and sometimes slow and steady wins the race!  My Director always encouraged me to beat my own personal best every month. As we are approaching the 15th of this month it’s time to check in on our goals.

You probably set a retail sales goal for your business back on the October 1st.  So, where are you now?  In order to stay on track with my retail sales goal I always refer to my UnitWise Dashboard.  I have the “At a Glance” window at the very top of my Dashboard (I even picked a border color for fun) and at any time I can quickly see my retail sales for the current week, and week prior. I can also see my retail sales from last month to the current month.  This makes it very simple to see what my target is from week to week and month to month!  I have experienced more “uh oh” months than I’d like to admit.

You know, the months where you set a goal on the 1st and then woke up on the 30th and said “uh oh” I’m no where near my goal! So ladies, this means for you to know exactly where you stand at anytime during the month you have to keep up with your data entry.  My suggestion is to be sure all of your sales receipts and invoices, and web orders and reorders, are entered after each appointment.  Your Director may have a special prize for you when you reach $300 or more in retail sales. Sometimes you’ll find you are just a few dollars away and you can then make a phone call to a customer to push you right over the edge!

October 15th marks the end of our current free product bonus of the TimeWise Age Fighting Eye Cream!  Always refer to and click on the products tab and then Biz Builders so you always know what the current ordering bonuses are and how much you can get for free!  Did you know that any time you receive free retail product from the company that adds to your yearly retail sales figure towards Queen’s Court of Sales?  Yep!  Every little bit extra can help.  Whenever you can, order at $400 wholesale or more and you’ll get some great free products and samplers!

PS – If you didn’t set a retail sales goal at the beginning of this month, don’t beat yourself up!  Just start today and set up a goal to reach between now and October 31st. There’s still time to have an amazing month! When you catch yourself at this point you can still come out on top!

Your Important To Do List

Margrette Field
The Heroes at UnitWise would like to welcome our first guest blogger, Margrette Field, an Independent Sales Director from Vista, CA. Margrette will post a blog each Wednesday full of tips, tricks, info and advice for other consultants and directors. Be sure to check back each week!

Hello, Gorgeous! I’d like to introduce myself to you and I’m really looking forward to sharing with you from week to week. I grew up playing with makeup and organizing my Mom’s Mary Kay inventory! I cried when she would go to Seminar as a kid but I always knew she would come back with a new Mary Kay keepsake like a t-shirt with Success Express on it! Or my favorite shirt that read Cadillacs Diamonds and Cash! My Mom is the reason I’m a Director today. I couldn’t wait until I turned 18 and I could sign my agreement. My only hesitation was thinking about how I would now shift to building my own business after playing a support role in her business for so long.

It was 1996 and I was a sophomore in college and my Mom gave me a little box of products to get me started. Going to an all-women’s college I thought it would be so easy to build my business. I was always known as being the shy type so sales weren’t anything anyone expected me to do.  However, I admired this company and loved the products and everyone could tell. My first appointment I sold a $7 blush and I’m pretty sure that student promptly returned it when she balanced her checkbook!  I wasn’t the consultant that excelled right from the start. However, I continued to find creative ways to build my business. If I could get an A in anything in Mary Kay it would be in tenacity!

I continued after graduating with my BBA to build customers, and soon after became a marketing coordinator for a company in Vista, CA. I never missed a unit meeting and it was 3 years into my corporate job I decided to take a different approach to my business. I enjoyed cheering other consultants on as they earned cars and moved into Directorship but I could really see it for myself at this point. The only thing holding me back was my self-esteem.  I wouldn’t necessarily confuse that with a lack of self-confidence because for me, the confidence came by doing. I was a good student and I could memorize scripts, order of application of our products, and I practiced all the time. The hard part was believing in myself. Have you ever felt the same way? It was 2004 when I earned the use of first career car and not long after that moved up to the position of Sales Director.

I am looking forward to sharing some tips I’ve learned along the way! We are always learning and growing in this business.

My first tip for you is to use the 6 Most Important Things To Do List.

There’s room in your Mary Kay Datebook for a place to hand write them in but you can use UnitWise as well! Remember this list is the six most important things to do.  We all think we have a hundred things to do but making a master list, what is commonly referred to as a “brain dump” and then compiling your new list will help you manage your time better and manage your “mind” better.  When you have your list in your head you will always feel overwhelmed and exhausted!  Try using the “sticky note” feature on UnitWise! Even if you log in and out several times a day, you can refer back to your sticky note! Getting into the routine of writing your list is really the key.  Make it part of your day to write it and see how you feel more and more productive!  Looking forward to sharing again next week!
