Party Tips for Mother's Day

Did you know that this Sunday marks the 100th anniversary of Mother’s Day in America?

Anna Jarvis conceived the concept of Mother’s Day in 1908 as a way to honor mothers for the sacrifices they made for their children. By 1912, many towns, states and even churches had adopted Mother’s Day and Anna Jarvis established the Mother’s Day International Association to promote her cause. Finally in 1914, President Woodrow Wilson signed a measure officially establishing the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day.

Now that you know a little Mother's Day History, let's dive into party ideas...

It's a lot of fun planning Mother & Daughter parties. You can do a Tea Party, or a Daughter-Does-My-Makeup Party, or even ( UnitWise favorite) a Makeover Party. Whatever your plans are here are a few ideas from the Heroes to make Mother's Day extra special:

Daughter Does My Makeup Tag or My Mom Does My Makeup Tag
You can teach young ladies the art of makeup application and incorporate trending social media hashtags/tags at the same time. For a fun YouTube Video you can get with your daughter and let her do your makeup or vice versa and add the "Daughter Does My Makeup Tag" for your title (and use the hashtag: #daughterdoesmymakeup) when you post.

Before-&-Afters are among the Heroes favorite pictures to see on social media. If you are at a party or just want to do something fun with your mom or daughter, you can let them do your makeover with fun colors and try creative looks. This would be a perfect opportunity to experiment with the new gel eyeliner and get that trending cat eye look. When finished, showcase your Mother's Day Makeovers on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (Check out what we have been up too).

Mother's Day Decor
Make your party POP with bright colors. You can easily incorporate the MK AtPlay colors into your decor to introduce the line to guests. photo credit: Pinterest: catchmyparty.

If bright and bold isn't your cup of tea, a sweet country chic theme may suit your clients better. I love the look of white and creams with subtle pops of color. photo credit: Pinterest: catchmyparty
