Fall in Love With SMART Goals to Be Successful

Welcome to the new year! It’s time to take a closer look at your Mary Kay goals. But where should you start? Chances are, your MK Director has some excellent ideas for you already, so go ahead and reach out to her for some superb advice. In addition to that, you can use these basic principles of goal setting. Don’t work harder in 2019, it’s time to work smarter! Ready to start setting your SMART business goals for 2019? Read on!

Prepare SMART Business Goals!

Your goals should be:

S - Specific

M - Measurable

A - Attainable

R - Result oriented

T - Time-based

Be Specific With Your Mary Kay Goals

First, you need to decide where you want to be in the upcoming year. What do you want the most? Is this the dream cruise that the company offers for a promotion this year? Do you want to promote yourself to a Director? Do you want to complete your National Area in 2019? Whatever that may be! Mary Kay Ash said: “If you can dream it, you can achieve it!” However, it would be best if you were specific. Don’t make a goal of increasing your sales, instead create a goal of improving your sales by 25%, for example. Adding five more team members by April 1st: that’s specific!

Set Up a Measurement System

How will you know that you have reached your goal? Personal Sales goals or new Unit members. Set a number and go for it!

Make It Attainable!

“A goal is like a good exercise, it makes you stretch.”

                                                                                  -Mary Kay Ash

A goal must be challenging, but attainable. If you joined MK yesterday, it might be too much of a stretch to aim to become an NSD by the end of the month. If a goal is not realistic, it would merely discourage you from trying harder. Look at your Director career path or your Senior Director’s path, learn from their experience. What did it take them to build a Unit? How much does your Unit need to produce to Achieve a Court of Sales Award?

You need to figure out where you stand right now. It’s best to take a closer look at your previous month, quarter, and even a year. If you already use UnitWise, you can run the following reports to quickly decide what went well and what you need to improve upon:

  • WAS Gross Receipts
  • WAS monthly Counts
  • Top Performing Consultants
  • Interview Recruit Details, to give a few.

Strive For Results!
Then figure out how many more new team members, or how many parties you need to hold to get to your goal. Then to achieve this many parties; how many referrals or leads do you need? How many times do you need to contact each person? Break it down to the smallest action.
Set Time Boundaries.

Once you break it down to every small income-producing activity, please take a moment to think about how long it takes you to complete an action. A phone call: 1-2 minutes, an email: 5 minutes, a facial: 40 minutes, so on and so on. Set a goal of how many calls, appointments, etc. you can make each day. Then get it on your calendar and follow your plan.

Improve Your Goals (If Needed)

It’s okay to tweak your plan to make it work. For example, if you see that sending emails to your customers and your Unit takes a big chunk of your day, try automating it with an Email Marketing tool.

The first quarter of the year is excellent for building your team. People are reevaluating their lives and setting goals to increase their income or to start a new business. It may be a great time to reach out to your customers or former team members and offer them a business opportunity. Unfortunately, the first quarter is also boring tax time. UnitWise and its sister company TaxBandits have a couple of solutions for you:

Dedicated tax reports to save you time on preparing paperwork to file your taxes

Simple Income Tax Extensions to buy you time (up to 6 months), so you can concentrate on your business now.

Delegate some of your tasks to a Virtual Assistant, then issue a 1099 form to them in a few simple steps.

Now you know how to set your goals! Go ahead and get to work!
