The Top 5 Fall Makeup Looks You Need To Try This Year

Take advantage of makeup trends fall 2019 to start the season with new beauty trends.

Fall is a great time to try new fall makeup looks, and changing your makeup routine is the easiest way to do that!

The power of makeup is endless with its ability to transform, but then wash off completely. We've compiled a guide to this year's fall makeup looks for 2019 to help you get started this season.

Which Fall Makeup Ideas to Try

As we enter a new season, new beauty trends are popping up everywhere.

From fall eyeshadow looks to lipstick beauty trends, here's the rundown of which makeup trends fall 2019 to try, and which ones to toss.

To help keep your clients "on-trend" this year, here are the do’s and don’ts for makeup trends fall 2019.

Fall eyeshadow looks and beauty ideas for Fall 2019.

Fall 2019 Beauty Trends: Eyebrows

Do

Full brows

If the eyes are the window to your soul, then the eyebrows are the curtains. More natural eyebrows have been on trend for about a year now, but 2019 takes them a step further. This year's fall makeup looks includes busy brows that make a statement. Try filling your brows and make them even bushier to draw attention to your eyes.

Don't

Unnatural shapes, too dark

Alongside these natural brows are the barbed wire, squiggle, rhinestone, shaved, braided, and carved eyebrows. Feel free to experiment with shape, but keep it somewhat natural. Makeup that looks like you aren't wearing any is hugely on trend this season. Also, try not to use a pencil that is too dark. You want your eyebrow color to stay consistent with your hair.

Fall eyeshadow looks for 2019.

Fall-Inspired Eyeshadow

Do

Fall leaves color scheme

Incorporate autumnal colors into your makeup routine. Add burnt orange, burgundy, and warm chocolate brown shades. Smokey eyes with dark shadow in the outer corners and below the lower lash line are beautiful. This fall, try using a burnt orange in the crease of client’s eyes and smudge it along the lash line.

Don't

Color blocks and floras

Don't get me wrong... A pop of color is the perfect addition to this trend! Add a blue eyeliner and call it a day. However, when you're experimenting with fall makeup ideas, try to steer clear of heavy color blocks. Also, I'm not really on board with gluing dried flowers and rhinestones to your eyes.
Makeup trends fall 2019 fresh face look with light contouring.

Fresh Face of Fall

Do

Light foundation, contouring and highlighting

Summer may have been a great time to sport bright colors and darker contours, but for fall makeup looks, opt for a more natural, less sun-kissed, look. Take advantage of lighter foundation, and adjust your contour shade to two shades darker than your current skin tone. Increase contrast and structure by applying softer colors on along the tops of your cheekbones.

Don't

Black contour and full bronzer

Unless you're considering black contouring for your Halloween costume look, stay far away. Black contouring and highlighter don't go together. Also, beware of bronzer this season. Even if the summer sun is still blazing throughout the day, steer away from overly-warm facial color. Channel those colors into your fall eyeshadow looks.

Fall makeup ideas for lip color.

Fall Makeup Ideas: Lip Color

Do

Go bold with rich color

Last fall was all about the ombre and matte lip, but this year, we're taking it up a notch. Makeup trends fall 2019 push for a full, rich lip. The natural, fresh face look pairs well with a bold, red lip. Try out this beauty trend this fall and bring attention to your face in a new way.

Don't

Lollipop lips

I cannot believe lollipop lips are still a thing. Lollipop lips, or the smudge look, surfaced earlier this year during fashion week. This look involves coloring outside the lines and smudging lip color… No, really I am serious. It might not be the look you want your clients walking out of your party with.

Staying Up To Date with Beauty Trends

As an MK consultant or director, we understand how important it is to stay up-to-date on the latest makeup and beauty trends. During your next consultant meeting, share these dos and don’ts of fall makeup looks.

8 Devotionals You Need for Your Business Now

8 Devotionals You Need for Your Business Now
When you are in business for yourself, it easy to be distracted or pick up thoughts that can lower your daily motivation.

You start your day ready to work on your growing business! Then you turn on the TV. You hear about natural disasters, and rumors of a bad economy. Then you check your email, one of your facials for today got canceled. Then, your team member sends a text that she cannot get any bookings because a big drama is happening in her life, her children's’ lives ...and her cat’s life. You put down the phone and think: is this business really for me?

Does it sound familiar?

It is a turning point. It is where your faith and self-discipline is tested. What do you do next?

MK Directors say: Avoid negative thoughts, limit distractions, like news channels or complaining people. Fill your morning (and evening also) with positive energy instead.

Directors recommend reading Mary Kay book Miracles Happen every 6 months. It has lots of wisdom, and beautiful Mary Kay Ash quotes for your daily motivation.

“Everyone has obstacles to overcome, but those with great faith can conquer whatever stands in their way.” - Mary Kay Ash.

Also, directors read daily devotionals. We asked them to share their best inspirational books and devotionals for women. Below is the list we received. It is in no particular order.

Everything You Need To Know About Sales Tax Rate Changes

If you sell MK products, you most, likely encountered sales taxes on both sides of your business. You have to pay sales tax on the full retail value of all products you buy from the company. Then you should pass the sales tax to your customers as you sell the products.

It sounds easy enough until collecting sales taxes gets a bit more complicated. Your sales tax can vary due to state sales tax changes, purchase location of products, or customers in states with no sales tax. That’s when it gets complicated. On top of all that, how are you tracking your non-recovered sales taxes?

Resources For Collecting Sales Taxes

Thankfully, you’re not alone! There are lots of helpful resources available:
  • How sales tax is collected by the company?
  • How to calculate Sales Taxes?
  • How to handle Non-Recovered Sales Taxes?

Visit your Intouch account, under Resources tab, then Tax.

While we cannot give tax advice, we can arm you with the information you need to file your income taxes. Whether it’s calculating sales tax or creating non-recovered sales tax reports; we’ve got you covered.

“Honesty is the cornerstone of all success, without which confidence and ability to perform shall cease to exist.”

-Mary Kay Ash

If you use UnitWise, you can set up a specific default sales tax rate in your preferences. It will allow you to calculate your sales taxes automatically as you create invoices for your customers. Take the guesswork out of the equation.

You can set preferences to add Sales Taxes for Shipping or choose whether you want to calculate the sales tax before or after the discount is applied. No more fumbling with a calculator trying to figure out the right percentage.

Handling Various Sales Tax Rates

What happens when you have a customer with a different tax rate than yours?
You have two choices here:
  • You can adjust their sales tax rate manually as you add the products to their sales receipt.
  • Save time by setting up a custom sales tax rate in their Customer profile under the Other Info Tab for frequent customers.
Everything You Need To Know About Sales Tax Rate Changes

State Sales Tax Changes

Everything You Need To Know About Sales Tax Rate ChangesAs of January 1st, 2019 multiple states have implemented new sales tax rates on products and services sold in their jurisdictions. If your sales tax rate has changed, you will need to update your settings in UnitWise.

Update your default sales tax rate by going to your profile, under Settings choose Sales/Order.

When you adjust sales tax individually based on the location of your customer, you will be able to track all sales tax transactions and tell whether you had any non-recovered sales tax or if there is a sales tax that needs to be remitted to MK if some sales tax was underpaid. Individual rules and situations may vary, so check with your tax professional before you proceed with any filing.

Non-recovered Sales Tax Reporting

Everything You Need To Know About Sales Tax Rate ChangesIf you want to see what your non-recovered sales tax was (or if there was any); you can refer to the Reports section: Home > Reports > Year-End/Tax.

You can run sales tax reports based on the previous calendar year or any custom dates. Every single time you record an invoice or a sales receipt with a tax rate different than yours, our system will mark the difference and add it to the report.

We hope this information provided additional clarity to collecting, recording, and updating sales tax rate. Remember to refer to the resources feature on Intouch and to update your settings with the new rate!

Fall in Love With Smart Goals to Be Successful

Fall in Love With Smart Goals to Be Successful
Welcome to the new year! It’s time to take a closer look at your Mary Kay goals. But where should you start? Chances are, your MK Director has some excellent ideas for you already, so go ahead and reach out to her for some superb advice. In addition to that, you can use these basic principles of goal setting. Don’t work harder in 2019, it’s time to work smarter! Ready to start setting your SMART business goals for 2019? Read on!

Prepare SMART Business Goals!

Your goals should be:

S - Specific

M - Measurable

A - Attainable

R - Result oriented

T - Time-based

Be Specific With Your Mary Kay Goals

First, you need to decide where you want to be in the upcoming year. What do you want the most? Is this the dream cruise that the company offers for a promotion this year? Do you want to promote yourself to a Director? Do you want to complete your National Area in 2019? Whatever that may be! Mary Kay Ash said: “If you can dream it, you can achieve it!” However, it would be best if you were specific. Don’t make a goal of increasing your sales, instead create a goal of improving your sales by 25%, for example. Adding five more team members by April 1st: that’s specific!

Set Up a Measurement System

How will you know that you have reached your goal? Personal Sales goals or new Unit members. Set a number and go for it!

Make It Attainable!

“A goal is like a good exercise, it makes you stretch.”

                                                                                  -Mary Kay Ash

A goal must be challenging, but attainable. If you joined MK yesterday, it might be too much of a stretch to aim to become an NSD by the end of the month. If a goal is not realistic, it would merely discourage you from trying harder. Look at your Director career path or your Senior Director’s path, learn from their experience. What did it take them to build a Unit? How much does your Unit need to produce to Achieve a Court of Sales Award?

You need to figure out where you stand right now. It’s best to take a closer look at your previous month, quarter, and even a year. If you already use UnitWise, you can run the following reports to quickly decide what went well and what you need to improve upon:

  • WAS Gross Receipts
  • WAS monthly Counts
  • Top Performing Consultants
  • Interview Recruit Details, to give a few.
Strive For Results!
Then figure out how many more new team members, or how many parties you need to hold to get to your goal. Then to achieve this many parties; how many referrals or leads do you need? How many times do you need to contact each person? Break it down to the smallest action.
Set Time Boundaries.

Once you break it down to every small income-producing activity, please take a moment to think about how long it takes you to complete an action. A phone call: 1-2 minutes, an email: 5 minutes, a facial: 40 minutes, so on and so on. Set a goal of how many calls, appointments, etc. you can make each day. Then get it on your calendar and follow your plan.

Improve Your Goals (If Needed)

Fall in Love With Smart Goals to Be Successful
It’s okay to tweak your plan to make it work. For example, if you see that sending emails to your customers and your Unit takes a big chunk of your day, try automating it with an Email Marketing tool.

The first quarter of the year is excellent for building your team. People are reevaluating their lives and setting goals to increase their income or to start a new business. It may be a great time to reach out to your customers or former team members and offer them a business opportunity. Unfortunately, the first quarter is also boring tax time. UnitWise and its sister company TaxBandits have a couple of solutions for you:

Dedicated tax reports to save you time on preparing paperwork to file your taxes

Simple Income Tax Extensions to buy you time (up to 6 months), so you can concentrate on your business now.

Delegate some of your tasks to a Virtual Assistant, then issue a 1099 form to them in a few simple steps.

Now you know how to set your goals! Go ahead and get to work!

Please comment below and tells us how you set your goals or how you measure them. Also, feel free to share your successes and lessons you’ve learned along the way.

5 Reasons You Should Opt Out of "Free Shipping Labels"

5 Reasons Why You Should Opt Out From Free Shipping LabelsAs small business owners, Mary Kay consultants need to keep tabs on their expenses. To stay competitive, you must provide the best customer service, which often involves shipping products at little or no cost to your customers. MK offers a fantastic service called Customer Delivery Service for Mary Kay shipping needs, known as CDS. The CDS covers the latest products. For any other customer favorites, you need to use your own shipping method. How do you find the best option for your buck? I hear a lot about some merchant services offering free shipping labels to consultants selling Mary Kay. I decided to look into it.

It turns out, it is not free, after all.

Look closer. Someone has to pay a mail carrier to do the job of delivering your package. A merchant service will not charge a fee for you to print shipping labels; as long as you process customer payment via their service also. It’s great if you already use their service! But what if you don’t use it or your customer had already pay you via ProPay, with a check, cash or other means?

UnitWise offers a convenient option of printing your shipping labels.

Reasons To Use UnitWise Postage

UnitWise Postage feature is powered by Endicia, Nation’s leader in Shipping Labels and accessories. Your Mary Kay postage is seamlessly integrated into your UnitWise account.

1. You Are The Boss!

Process your customer payments however you like.

2. Pay As You Go!

Only Pay for the USPS shipping labels that you mail. Did the customer change her mind? No problem! Request a refund with one click and use the credit to print another address label later.

3. Cut Down on Manual Entries!

5 Reasons Why You Should Opt Out From Free Shipping LabelsYou do not need to type customer address and then also your address. Just add customer name, let the program do its magic. Your customers’ details are already in your account. You will receive them automatically from Intouch.

4. Ship Any Size!

Shipping weight options are available for as low as 3 ounces, not starting at one pound like some other services.

5. Get Reports!

Convenient Shipping Costs Report is available for your tax filing needs. It will help you see at a glance how much you spend on your shipping both retail and wholesale.

So, try it now! Log on to your UnitWise account, go to Customers> Postage.
