Finding The Right Shade Of Foundation

We are taking things back to the basics because as you teach potential clients about makeup at your makeup parties or do some consulting work you will quickly realize there are a few people out there who don’t know where to start with makeup. In order to educate the masses to get more sales use our makeup guides to teach beginners everything they need to know. Today’s topic is finding the right foundation.

Finding The Right Foundation

It’s important to explain the different between foundation and concealer because it’s extremely common for ladies to think that they are the same thing. Foundation is what you use to cover your entire face and concealer is what you use to cover dark spots like bags under the eyes or acne.

There is a little bit of debate over whether you should use concealer or foundation first. Some experts suggest using concealer first to evenly cover dark spots, and others suggest using it second, so you’ll end up using less. In the makeup world, less is always more to avoid looking thick and cakey.

Also, you want your concealer and foundation to match or to be close in color so they will blend well together. Otherwise, you might need a 3rd shade to prevent any noticeable overlapping of colors while blending.

The overall goal is to find a shade of foundation that matches your skin tone. That may seem obvious, but it’s to not total beginners. Getting a shade that’s lighter than your skin can end up making you look like you’re wearing too much makeup or chalky.

Also, picking a shade that’s too dark can make you look orange, or overly tan. When it comes down to the wire and you have to make a quick foundation decision always go with the shade of foundation that’s slightly darker. Never go lighter.

To see what color truly matches your skin tone test a little of the foundation on the back of your hand or chest. However, it's important to test the color in an area that has natural light. Your skin doesn’t always look like the way it does under bright fluorescent lights in the makeup store. Remember, you can walk outside of the store to see how closely different shades of foundation match your skin tone. Just don't walk out while holding any products!

When in doubt ask for help. The associates in makeup stores know what they’re doing. They will walk you through the foundation matching process step-by-step. However, at the end of the day, it’s important that you pick the shade that you like the most. Wear your makeup with comfort and confidence.

Be sure to pick the right type of foundation as well. Do you have oily or dry skin? Because that makes a difference! You may need a powder foundation to soak up some oil or a liquid one to moisturize your skin. Foundations in stick form are for highlighting and contouring.

Use the right tool for applying your foundation. Fingers are fine for applying foundation as long as you make sure to evenly apply it. It’s better to use either a sponge or a makeup brush with angled bristles. For powder foundation, it’s best to use a fluffy brush for a light finish.

Turn Beginners Into Pros

Get more sales by teaching beginners everything they need to know about makeup. Once they realize how easy it is to use they will be hooked and might even become lifetime customers. Remember to start with the basics, and foundation is always a great topic to cover.

Boost Your Beauty Business With Email Marketing

Getting more sales is always one of your goals as a member of the beauty consulting industry right? We know you’re already a pro at hosting makeup parties and hooking new leads to push your products, but have you considered taking things to a digital level? By using UnitWise to create marketing emails you could boost your sales online by only taking a minute or two to make the perfect message for your target audience. It’s a quick and simple way to hook more customers.

UnitWise

UnitWise is the best personal assistant you could ever ask for. It’s the number one business management solution that’s specifically designed for NSDs, directors, and independent beauty consultants. Plus, it comes with tons of innovative, time-saving features for inventory management, accounting, unit reports, email marketing, and more.

Email Marketing With UnitWise

Email marketing is the most cost-effective method of advertising because everyone checks their email at least once a day, and the space inside of their inbox is free, so why not take up some of that space with an email advertising a discount or sale?

By sending out marketing emails you will be expanding your brand and online presence for free. It’s a way to get repeat customers to purchase more products and to hook new clients. You can design a targeted email to reach a specific audience in a matter of minutes.

The idea of creating a marketing email shouldn’t be intimidating because UnitWise has already taken care of the complicated parts for you. With UnitWise you’ll have access to a premade email template where you can simply drag and drop images and charts.

Your marketing emails are 100% customizable. It’s extremely easy to edit the fonts to be any size or color that you want, change the color of the background, and you can add an unlimited amount of images or videos to your emails. Once you’ve finished creating an email you can save it as a template to use again later.

Each email also has an individualized appearance. All of the email addresses that your email goes to will be hidden, so it will look like your email was sent individually to each one of your clients. Also, the greeting will automatically include your customer’s name.

You can create customized email groups to send your marketing emails to. This way you can target certain groups for products. For example, if you have customers who enjoy the hand repair kit you can create a group for them and then send them special discounts on scrubs and hand creams.

Plus, with UnitWise you can plan your emails in advance and schedule them to send out on a certain day and time. This way you don’t have to rush to create emails the day of your sale. You can spend one afternoon planning out your special deals and discounts for the entire week, month, or more!

No one will receive your emails if they don’t want them because UnitWise has made it extremely easy for people to unsubscribe from your messages. Once they unsubscribe they’ll longer receive your marketing emails.

Email marketing takes a little practice to learn what your audience enjoys and responds best to. That’s why you can view email marketing reports at any time to see the open rate, conversion rate, how many people went to your site from the email, unsubscribes, and more. Learn from your totals to see which sale your clients like the most and when the best time to send an email out is.

Spring Cleaning For Your Makeup Collection

Sometimes your bathroom can be a battle ground. When you’re running late you have to rush to put on your perfect face before running out the door. Amidst the storm, some products get left out on the counter and soon your bathroom is a mess. Now that spring is here it’s time to make your makeup space fresh and clean again, so check out these spring cleaning tips for your makeup stash.

Spring Cleaning Your Makeup Cabinet

The first step is getting through your phase of denial. It’s time to get rid of products that you got on a whim but in reality, will never wear. That orange shimmering blush and teal lipstick need to go. You need to make more space for the items you use on a regular basis.

Then assess your eye products. Eyeliners and mascaras are notorious breeding grounds for bacteria and can cause styes and infections. Generally, mascaras need to be replaced every 3 months and eyeliners last about six. Also, clean your eyelash curler with a gentle soap to knock out bacteria.

You should actually take a look at all of your products to see what has expired. If you can’t find the expiration dates on your lipsticks, foundations, and more then put them through the physical test. See how they smell, if they smell funky, or waxy, then their time is done. Then look at their texture, anything that’s dry, crumbly, or clumpy needs to go.

Check all of your products to make sure their bottles or containers don’t have any cracks. If your items leaks and will make your space messy then it has to go, no matter how much you love it.

Think about everything that happens to your bathroom counter. Makeup spills, water splashes around, your toothbrush sometimes rests on it, and more, making conditions ideal for bacteria to flourish. Then when you rest your makeup brushes on your counter the bacteria can spread to them and then to your face!

That’s why you need to wash your makeup brushes! Use a gentle cleanser like dawn or baby shampoo to knock out the bacteria, thoroughly rinse them, and let them dry.

Next, wash your bathroom or vanity. Remove all the makeup from the containers, drawers or cabinets and wipe down the space with a spray cleaner and scrub any and all bacteria away. Put your products back when your makeup storage area is dry.

If you keep everything in a bag then clean it out as well. Wipe down the inside of it with wet wipes or send it through the wash.

Replace your makeup for the new season. In the winter you need thicker items with more moisturizer to fight dryness, but in the spring you’ll need lighter items to prevent your face from looking oily.

Also, you may not have noticed, but you probably have a bit of a tan going on. As the summer approaches your skin will get darker, so be sure to get darker shades of foundation to match. You never want to have a shade lighter than your actual skin tone.

Implement a storage system. There are tons of organizers that go on sale in the spring, where you can place all of your products in, by category from lip products to primers. You can also get rotating caddy or portable caddy to keep your items in. For long, slender items, that like to roll like eyeliner, get a decorative jar or container to place them in.

Last but not least, the fun part. Go shopping to replace the items you tossed out. Get new spring shades of lighter colors, all natural shades of eyeliners, and lipsticks. See what new products are trending, and even treat yourself to a new makeup bag!

Happy Spring Cleaning

This time of the year means that winter is gone and we can celebrate by cleaning everything up for a fresh and clean feel. This even applies to our makeup cabinets. Out with the old and in with the new for a fabulous spring feeling and look!

Speaking of reports, UnitWise is full of reports that you can run at any time to see how your inventory is doing and to gather your tax totals. Reports like the Sales Breakdown, Cost of Sales, Gifts and Demos, and more will let you know which of your products are the most popular and which ones aren’t doing so great. The Beginner's Guide To Contouring

There’s no way that you work in the beauty industry and you haven’t heard about contouring. The way to give your face all natural shaded look, and flawless shape, that’s currently all the rage. Also, we know you probably have at least one friend who takes makeup as a serious hobby and that one friend who can’t tell an eyeliner pencil from mascara.

So, this post serves to help out the beginners to contouring. Plus, once you get the hang of contouring it will be an awesome thing to teach at your makeup parties!

Contouring For Beginners

First, start by getting the materials that you’ll need. Some people suggest bronzers, and others suggest two different shades of foundation. Your current shade or one shade lighter will work, paired with a shade that is one to two shades darker. Don’t go past 2 shades darker or you may end up looking unnaturally tan or orange.

Powder foundation is best for beginners, but you’ll eventually want to upgrade to liquid foundation. Foundation sticks work as well. Just make sure that your foundation or concealer is matte. Save the shimmer for highlighting and touch ups. You’ll also need a blending sponge or brush to blend the different shades of makeup together.

The placement of the darker and lighter shades of foundation on your face will vary depending on its shape. That’s because the sunlight hits different face shapes in different places, and the point of a contour is to have a natural glow that sculpts the shape of your face.

Map where the sun naturally hits your face with your lighter shade. Generally, this covers the top of your nose, forehead, chin, and the apples of your cheeks from the ears to your nose.

Then use a little of your darker shade to map around those areas. Place a little concealer or bronzer at the top of your forehead at your hair line, on the outside of your nose, under your cheeks but don’t trace them fully, place a little along your jawline, and the outside of your chin.

Remember with your darker shade of foundation, less is more to avoid looking an unflattering shade of tan or orange. Start off with very small amounts until you get more comfortable with contouring. The entire process does take a little bit of practice.

Another technique is to use your lighter shade of foundation to create a base on your entire face, then mapping out your face with the darker shade and blending it in. You can practice these different techniques to figure out which one works best for you.

Once you have your face mapped out it’s time to blend baby blend. You can use an angled or flat brush in a sweeping motion going back and forth to blend, or a wet makeup sponge or blender. Simply avoid blending in circles because your face should go from light to dark, or circles could result in exactly that, circles. Be sure to go past the jawline and blend onto your neck to make sure that your face and neck are the same color.

Your goal is to make sure that you don’t have any harsh lines. Also, after you’re finished blending you can use a little highlighter and shimmer to touch up your cheeks and eyes. Most people pair contours with light shades of all natural pink blushes and lipsticks.

Once you’re finished you have the option of setting your face with a translucent powder or setting spray to help your flawless look last longer.

Oh Girl, That Contour Though!

Contouring may seem like an intimidating task to conquer in the beauty world, but in reality, it’s a very simple technique to pull off. Just don’t overdo it and be sure to really blend your concealers. Once you get your contouring skills down you can show them off at your makeup parties to push more products!

Spring Wedding Makeup Trends

It’s one of the most exciting times of the year because along with spring comes wedding season. Even if you’re single or you’ve been married awhile, admit it, wedding trends are still fun to check out! Maybe you’re even in an upcoming wedding soon! Embrace your inner girl and check out the hottest spring makeup styles for 2017 weddings. Maybe you can even use a few of these trends to push your makeup sales.

Spring 2017 Wedding Makeup Trends

Part of being a beautiful bride is having an enchanting glow about you, after all, it is your day. To achieve this, brides are going back to basics with all natural looks. Simple makeup will make you feel more comfortable, especially if you aren’t used to wearing a lot.

Plus, you never want to go bold or try something new before a big event, because if you do the look wrong or it doesn’t turn out looking right then it’s too late. You’ll be looking off in all of your photos.

Wedding days aren’t the time for tons of glitter unless you have a 70’s theme. However, a little shimmer in your highlights can give you an excellent glow. Use a highlighter on your cheeks where the sun naturally hits your face for breathtaking glow.

Also, to enhance your glow highlight or add a little shimmer to the inner corner of your eyes, doing so will give you a bright and awake look. Unfortunately, wedding days are exhausting, so this is a great way to cover how tired you feel. To modernize this look use shades of gold or metallic silver.

Speaking of eyes, it’s trendy to put all of the attention on them. Full, bold brows are the way to go, along with subtle smokey eyes. Also, don’t forget about eyeliner. The cat eye and winged tips are in. To avoid making the eyes overpowered brides are flocking to eye shadow shades of golds, browns, peach, and pinks.

The trendy rebels are changing up traditional looks with shades of gold and metallic eyeliners. To be extra bold try walking down the aisle with white eyelashes. However, a nice set of black, thick false lashes will draw all the attention to your eyes that you need.

Blush these days is all about light warm shades for spring. Dusting a little pink over your cheeks will give you a warm, youthful glow with an elegant look. You don’t have to stick to just pink, try experimenting with shades of peach too.

Notice how we keep mentioning warm shades like pink? That’s because it matches the clean, warm feel that comes with spring. Also, that color trend continues with the lips. Brides are using soft and warm shades of pink. Depending on what you like, you can rock a matte or glossy shade.

Some ladies are letting their natural lip color shine with a shade of clear gloss. Other ladies are being bold by pulling off bright shades of red lip stains. Bold shades of red really work to add a vintage, elegant style to your look.

As far as foundation goes, make sure your skin looks fresh and dewy, like spring. You’ll need to be moisturized, but don’t over do it. Also, remember to highlight your cheeks and around your eyes!

We love the 2017 spring hair wedding trends! It’s all about braids, all types of braids! From straight long braids to weaving braids, and side braids. You can’t go wrong with a braid right now.

If you love the messy bun, good news, buns are in. Messy buns that frame the face, low buns, on top of the head buns, any bun you can think of!

For those who want to wear their hair down, wear it wild. Let your waves flow and don’t be afraid of a messy, knotted, bohemian look.

Rock 2017 Wedding Trends!

Spring is here and so is wedding season, so be sure to stay up to date with the new 2017 spring wedding trends! For more beauty tips visit UnitWise.com and share your 2017 spring wedding tips in the comment section below.

How Beauty Consultants Relax

As a member of the beauty consultant industry, you work hard. You’re out there getting new recruits, sales, and leads. On top of that, you’re managing your unit and training new members. Plus, you can’t forget to keep up with your inventory, receipts, bills, and more! Some days you can get stressed out and get stuck in go mode, causing you to get tense and stay up all night! Learn how to destress and unwind at the end of the day with our relaxation tips.

How To Relax After Work

When you get home, make sure that you’ve left your work at the office. Turn off your phone and ignore your emails. It’s perfectly fine to enter your do not disturb mode to unwind and focus on yourself after a long day.

If you’re in for the night then change as soon as you get home. Take off your heels and put on the slippers. Nothing helps a person relax more than their favorite pair of comfy pants. From yoga tights to sweats, wear whatever you feel best in.

A great way to destress is by working out a little. You don’t have to join a gym or go for a run. Simply walking around the block, stretching, and practicing yoga will get your blood flowing. As you gently work your muscles the tension, stress, and anxiety will be relieved. Plus, working out causes your body to produce endorphins so you’ll be in a better mood.

By getting out and walking you’ll be in nature. Seeing plants and animals, as well as breathing the fresh clean air that plants provide is a great way to relax and feel better.

However, you don’t have to get moving to relax. You can stay still and treat yourself to a nice soak in a hot shower or bath. There are a variety of bath bombs with relaxing scents like lavender and bath salts that will soothe your body and mind. There’s no harm in lighting your favorite candles in the bathroom as well.

Take some time to pamper yourself with your favorite sugar scrub or face mask. The minerals in these items will leave you feeling refreshed. Plus, the act of taking care of yourself will boost your mood.

Speaking of yourself, remember to indulge in you time. Make time for one of your favorite activities. Maybe you like to cook, maybe you like to watch reality tv, or maybe you like to read romance novels. Whatever your ‘you time’ activity is, we won’t judge. Have fun!

Sometimes when things are all business we can get a little stressed out, that’s why it’s a good idea to call or meet up with a friend for a chat. Catch up and make jokes to get your mind off work for a while. Maybe you can even talk about what’s been stressing you out to get it off your chest. While you’re with your BFF it might be a good time to unwind with a glass of wine too.

Another great way to relax is by meditating. You can take a few moments to sit still and clear your mind, or you can listen to relaxing music to lose yourself in the beat. There are also a number of guided meditation apps you can listen to.

If You Don’t Have Time...

There are times when life gets incredibly busy and you may not have the time to stop and relax. Luckily we have techniques that relieve stress fast.

Oftentimes people carry a lot of stress and tension in their jaw. To relive it try stretching your mouth and moving your jaw back and forth. You can also chew some gum to loosen your jaw up.

Get some tea. In the office, at home, or through a cafe drive trough, grab a soothing cup of hot tea to relax. Chamomile, lavender, peppermint, and lemon teas all will help you calm down a little so you can focus.

Go to the bathroom for a few minutes to clear your mind. Touch up your makeup or check out what’s happening on social media. Even by only taking a few moments for yourself can really turn your day around.

Think positive. Focus on what’s currently going well and recent achievements. This way you’ll be able to turn your stressful mood into a positive one and reinforce your confidence. Don’t worry girl, you got this.

Listen to something your enjoy. Put on your favorite playlist or podcast and turn the rest of the world out for a while. This way your mind will get taken off of what’s stressing you out so you can get in your productive zone.

Work Hard, Relax Hard!

Keep it up! You’re doing great. Even though your beauty consultant career is going great, there can still be long days that leave you feeling stressed and frazzled. Remember to take a break so you can relax and recharge.

For more beauty consultant tips visit UnitWise.com and share your favorite ways to relax in the comment section below.

Not only is ProPay trusted, but it’s secure. It uses the latest technology for security and adheres to strict rules to keep their customer’s and customer’s client's information safe.

That’s why UnitWise is able to allow users to accept payments at parties, over the phone, and more. Anytime someone wants to place an order you can use your computer or smartphone to process the transaction as long as you have a wifi connection.
For example, if you make a sale at a makeup party you can hand your phone to your customer for them to type in their card information. Then their card information will become invisible so no one else will have access to their information.

If your client doesn’t want to type in their information then you can get the ProPay jack and plug it into your phone. Then customers can simply swipe their card instead of typing in their information.

When a transaction is made the receipt can be printed or emailed to your client. Every time a receipt is made then your inventory is automatically updated, so you don’t have to go in and manually adjust it later.

A receipt is made when a transaction is completed, and an invoice is made when payments are split up over time. With UnitWise you can quickly set up a customized invoice plan for your clients. You can set the payment date and amount for each payment.

You can record the details for each invoice to keep notes about the transaction. You can also elect to receive email reminders for upcoming invoice due dates, so you'll never forget about a payment.

Now you may not have time to meet up with all of your clients to collect payments in person, and that’s where the UW Payment Hub comes in handy because it allows users to log on to pay their invoices online.

All you have to do is send your clients their own login information via email, or they can create their own login information by following the UW Payment Hub link that you can send them via email. When a client pays their invoice the system will mark it as paid. It will also list that the payment was made with the UW Payment Hub for your records.

Get Paid Online!

Don’t worry about order sheets and taking down people’s payment information. You can use UnitWise to quickly make safe and secure transactions from any location. People can even log on to pay their invoices themselves!

Secrets That Led To Mary Kay's Success

As a beauty consultant you have the power to set your own schedule, enjoy selling products as a hobby or full-time career, and the potential to make a wealthy living. It’s a unique career opportunity that changed the role of women in business and has helped millions of women across the world feel beautiful, successful, and most importantly, empowered.

The beauty consultant industry is huge and flourishing, all thanks to one person, Mary Kay, so what are her secrets to success? By taking a moment to learn them you could be on your way to building your own empire.

The Secrets To Mary Kay’s Success

The first thing to know about Mary Kay is that she didn’t take any crap. Nothing stood in her way. While working for a company a man she trained herself was picked for a promotion over her, and he was given a much bigger salary. Mary Kay decided that she wouldn’t stand for it, and quit. She moved on to bigger and better things, like starting her own business for example.

Mary Kay was also very persistent. She never gave up in life, even when things got rough. Even though she didn’t start her business until she was 45 she knew she could do it and continued to work until it became a worldly success.

She was one positive lady. Her most important accessory was her smile, and she shared it with everyone, everywhere she went. A young woman boarded an elevator one day and Mary Kay asked, “How is your day going” and the girl replied, “It’s going fine.” Mary Kay flashed the girl a big smile and said, “Well then make it great!.” Just by smiling more and adopting a more positive attitude you’ll be surprised by how much of a major difference a positive attitude can make in your life.

Mary Kay got out of her comfort zone. Sticking to her old job would have been easy. Starting a new
business, talking to people, leading people, and more takes guys. She didn’t settle for the day to day routine, instead, she went for greatness.

Mistakes were alright. Mary Kay didn’t criticize people for making their mistakes. Instead, mistakes were supposed to be a learning experience. To make it in business you have to at least try. You can’t make a mistake unless you try, and if you do make a mistake you can learn from it and try again.

Another thing to know about Mary Kay is that she was very respectful. She believed in treating everyone like you would like to be treated. It didn’t matter if you were a stranger or a friend, the janitor or the CEO. She treated everyone with the same respect.

Also, she was encouraging. She didn’t understand that women didn’t take advantage of their god given potential. One of her goals was to help others achieve their own, and she did that by encouraging people to reach their goals.

Mary Kay stood by her priorities. God first, family second, career third. Her faith was important, as well as her family. She loved her parents, sons, grandkids, and more, all while not letting her career get in the way. Even though she had her own religious beliefs she accepted differing opinions from others and encouraged them to stick to their priorities and beliefs as well.

Plus, she knew how to have a good time. Do you think fur coats and pink Cadillacs came from someone boring?! At Mary Kay, you work hard and you play hard with awesome prizes. You can’t forget about seminar, the party in Taxas that's almost bigger than the state itself, where beauty consultants meet from all over to learn more about the business and have a good time.

The Next Stop Is The Top

Mary Kay started by quitting her job and opening a storefront in Texas. With hard work, persistence, and a positive attitude she grew her business into a major worldwide industry. You too can achieve greatness by reaching for your dreams with the help of Mary Kay’s secrets to success.

How To Prevent Wrinkles And Aging Skin

As a beauty consultant, you want to always look on top of your game with the latest makeup trends and techniques. Along with demonstrating the newest ways to apply blush at your makeup parties you probably want to look the best you can, and doing so involves avoiding pesky wrinkles that give age away. Simply follow our anti wrinkle tips below to have flawless youthful skin.

The Anti-Wrinkle Guide

For flawless skin, you have to stop smoking. Smoking ruins the collagen in your skin, which is responsible for making your skin firm and tight. Once your collagen breaks down then your skin will sag and wrinkles will form.

Plus, pursing your lips to inhale on a cigarette can cause major wrinkle lines around your mouth. Smoking also discolors the skin, dries the skin out, breaks down the nutrients necessary for skin repair, and more.

The next step involves drinking water all day, every day. Our skin, like the rest of the organs in our body, can get dehydrated. When our skin is dehydrated it starts to look saggy and sunken. Water plumps and firms the skin to hide signs of aging.

Also, water can help cut down on acne and breakouts. Now, your body can only absorb a certain amount of water at a time, so it’s important to carry water with you and drink it all day instead of trying to chug large amounts all at once.

While adding water to your daily routine try introducing more healthy foods like vegetables and lean meats, like fish to your diet. Antioxidants which are found in fruits and veggies can help to limit the production of free radicals that damage skin cells.

Nutrients like vitamin C help to repair skin cells and promote growth, for fuller, healthier skin. Vitamin E is another great antioxidant that regulates retinol levels. Retinol boosts collagen, unclogs pores, smooths the skin, and removes discoloration.

Healthy fats like omega 3s are strong anti-inflammatories that help reduce inflammation of your skin. This will reduce redness and puffiness. They also boost collagen and help skin repair. Eating healthy will boost your skin more than you know!

While eating healthy, try to cut sugar out. Sugar can cause your skin to become inflamed, break down elastin in your skin, and damage collagen, leading to wrinkles and sagging skin. Sugar also increases sebum production. Sebum is the natural oil that your skin produces, but when too much of it is produces your cores can become clogged, leading to acne.

Watch out for the sun! Damaging UV rays not only irritate the skin by making it dry, red, and itchy, but it also damages skin cells, leading to sagging, discoloration, and wrinkles. Try wearing a hat, sleeves, and sunscreen when you’ll be outdoors for a while. Also, avoid sunscreens filled with harmful chemicals. Try an all natural, organic sunscreen that your skin will thank you for.

Avoid drying your face out. This can be achieved by using hydrating facial masks instead of clay ones that will dry your skin out. Use moisturizing cleansers that don’t have alcohol in them and double up on the moisturizer creams. Moisturizers without toxic ingredients are best. Don’t over wash your face, you don’t want to strip your skin’s natural oils away, and always remember to wash your face before bed.
In order to avoid crows feet around your eyes take care of them. Squinting can cause lines, so make sure your glasses prescription is up to date so you can read without trouble and carry your sunglasses everywhere! Wear them while you drive or during any situation where the blinding sun could make you squint.

You may want to invest in an eye cream. Eye creams are made specifically for the delicate, thinner skin around your eyes. They help moisturize the skin and improve its collagen and elasticity to prevent dark circles, bags, and wrinkles.

Be sure to make time to rest. You really do need your beauty sleep. As you sleep your skin gets repaired and increased circulation and oxygen goes to your skin, giving it a warm, youthful glow. Sleeping also helps your skin become hydrated and reduces inflammation so you can wake up refreshed.

Rock Your Skin

With a few minor changes to your routine in order to protect your skin, you’ll repair wrinkles and damage and well has prevent them. It’s easy to have a youthful glow to help you be the beauty consultant who looks the part with flawless, youthful skin and perfect makeup.

Spring 2017 Makeup Trends

Alright, ladies! It’s time to knock the snow off your boots, store your winter coat, and clean out your makeup drawer. Spring is coming in hot with longer days, warmer weather, and brighter colors. Don’t fall behind, stay up to date with the latest spring 2017 makeup trends to show off at your makeup parties!

Spring 2017 Makeup Trends

First, we have to make sure that you switch foundations. As you go from winter to spring your face will get darker, so even if you have a lot of your light colored winter foundation left, clear it out. You never want to apply a foundation that’s lighter than your actual skin tone to your face. Now let’s get started with those makeup trends!

We’re excited to announce that one trend that survived the winter is glitter! Glitter is hot and here to stay. Experiment by coating your lips in full on glitter, adding glitter to your eyebrows, using glitter to accent your lips and eye liners. Heck, you should even try using glitter instead of eye shadow.

One thing to take away from the spring fashion shows is the blush bomb. Now that winter is gone it’s time to shine bright and be noticed with color. Bright shades of blush are trending with bright reds, bright pinks, rosy shades.

Blush is literally reaching new heights by being spread up to the temple with glossy smudges. Although people are being a bit more reserved by only smudging it all across their apple cheeks. To add to the glam add a splash of shimmer in the center or have your nails match your blush.

Pucker up, it’s time to discuss lips. A lot of new things are happening with lip makeup these days! A lot of blood things, that is. It’s time to turn up the color with bright shades of fuchsia, electric orange, cherry red, peachy orange, teal, and more.

Texture wise lips are getting creamier. They look soft and wet. Things are also getting mixed up with semi-matte lips. You can have a matte outside with a creamy inside or vice versa. You can also have a matte top lip with a creamy bottom lip.

Why stop at one color? It’s time to experiment with fades that start with an inner lighter color and fade to dark. Also, we’re seeing more and more of darker top lips with lighter bottom lips. To be extra bold accent your Cupid’s bow with a metallic shade.

The 80’s called, they want to come back, and they’re doing it in style. Pastel pinks are covering eyelids and we can’t get enough of it. Other popular colors include emerald, cobalt, warm peach, teal, glossy pink, robin egg, and shades of red.

Wash out eyes where the color starts off intense and then fades away with a glossy smudge are in, especially in shades of orange-red, rosy red, and burgundy red.

Instead of having typical eye shadow painted around your eye it’s time to throw out the instructions by smearing it from one corner to the other for a rocker chick vibe. Also, glossy and smudged smoky eyes seem to be all the rage.

Speaking of rocker, be sure to use smudge eyeliner in shades of black, gray, brown, or navy. Winged cat tips are still in, along with tracing only half of the outer corner of your eye. Don’t forget to accent your wings with some glitter or a metallic shade.

As far as you complexion it’s time to get highlighted and glossy. The athletic, moisturized look and a healthy glow are in. You can achieve this look by highlighting your skin with tones of yellow and gold. Then be sure to throw in a little shimmer for warmth.

Spring Is Coming!

We’re ready to warm up and experiment with new colorful looks to bring in the spring. Remember to clean out your makeup box and to learn new tips and techniques to show off and be trendy at your upcoming makeup parties!

Avoid These Items If You Have Sensitive Skin

There are good days and bad days for your skin, especially if you have sensitive skin. You could be going about your day as normal, then you could all of the sudden use a product that causes your skin to flare up. Then you could become plagued with redness, puffiness, dryness, itchiness, and more! Make every day a good skin day by avoiding these irritants if you have sensitive skin.

Skin Irritants To avoid

One of the major skin irritants you can come into contact with is fragrances. Scents in candles, perfume, lotions, essential oils, and more can cause your skin to have an allergic reaction. You could get itchy, red, and puffy, so try to find the scent that irritates you and avoid getting it if you can’t live without candles and perfume. Also, always go for unscented lotions and moisturizers.

Be sure to watch out for glitter. If the label on your lotion says shimmering put it back because glitter can make your skin itch and break out in a hot minute.

Another thing that should be avoided in items like lotions or bath bombs is dyes. The chemicals in dyes often contain harsh irritants unless they’re all natural, but even then they can still cause your skin to freak out.

Read the labels on your face wash, moisturizers, skin peels, and more, because they often contain acids like lactic acid, ascorbic acid, glycolic acid, malic acid, and more. These products can irritate and burn your face, leading to redness and puffiness.

Always watch out for alcohol. It’s most often found in toners and facial cleansers. Nothing dries your skin out like alcohol! It can also cause your skin to become red and tender to the touch. Alcohol should simply be avoided altogether.

Some facial scrubs should be avoided. For example, if they have abrasive materials like fruit pits or crystals they can really inflame your skin. Go for a sugar scrub instead.

You have to watch out for soap, generic household soaps, or the little bars found in hotel bathrooms can really dry out your skin, leading to cracking and bleeding hands. Be sure to get a soap with moisturizer in it, or use your own alcohol-free hand sanitizer.

Speaking of soap, you should also know that your household cleaners could also be irritating your skin. Dish detergents, cleaning sprays, even dust polish can all do a number on your skin because they’re full of harmful chemicals that aren’t meant for us to touch. Always wear gloves when cleaning, even when doing the dishes.

Whenever you’re washing the dishes, taking a shower, or washing your hands remember to use mildly hot water, not steaming hot. Save the hot baths for special occasions or super cold winter nights because hot HOT water can really dry out your skin and cause eczema to flair up.

Heat, in general, can actually be bad for sensitive skin. If you’re hot during a heat wave and you start to sweat your skin could become irritated and start to chafe!

If you do find yourself out in the heat watch out for sunscreens that have harsh added chemicals. They can burn your skin and dry it out and that’s before you even come into contact with the sun’s UV rays! They’re are all natural forms of sunscreen that you can use instead.

Your clothes could be bothering you! Scented laundry detergents and dryer sheets could give you an allergic reaction. Before you know it you’ll have random rashes all over. Try using liquid fabric softener and gentle detergents free of scents and dyes instead. Also, Watch out for wool and other abrasive fabrics that could set off your eczema.

Make Every Day A Great Skin Day

You don’t have to spend days hiding if your skin becomes red or puffy, simply learn what items to avoid if you have sensitive skin. Always go for the unscented, gentle formulas, without dyes or shimmers! Before you know it your bad skin days will be a thing of the past.

For more beauty tips visit UnitWise.com and share your stories about sensitive skin the comment section below.

Email Marketing Is Easy With UnitWise

Want to give your business a boost? What if we told you there is a way to quickly and easily target your customers with personalized messages about your sales? Then what if we told you the messages were incredibly simple to create? Would that sound too good to be true? Well, it’s not. Boosting your sales is possible with the help of email marketing with UnitWise.

UnitWise

UnitWise is the number one business management solution specifically designed for NSDs, directors, and independent beauty consultants in order to help them effectively manage their entire beauty consulting business.

You can take advantage of UnitWise’s time-saving features for managing your billing, invoicing, inventory, sales reports, email marketing, and so much more.

Email Marketing With UnitWise

With email marketing, you can reach a broad audience in a matter of minutes to promote your business or push a sale. It’s a tool that can be used to relate promotions to particular holidays or events to finally hook leads.

Now we understand that email marketing can be intimidating because it can be hard to design a professional looking message, but UnitWise handles everything for you. UnitWise has a premade email template where you can easily drop and drag tables and images so you’ll have a professional-looking email in a matter of minutes.

Plus, the emails look like they’re personalized for each recipient because we hide all of the other email addresses. Once your customer gets your message it will look like it was sent only to them. We even customize each email to greet the recipient with their name!

We know that you have a lot of contacts, from leads, repeat customers, your unit members, and more. That’s why you can separate your email addresses into different groups to only send certain people messages.

For example, you could send your leads a special coupon code for their first order or you could send your customers who like the hand repair kit a BOGO offer. You could also send out messages to your unit to recognize birthdays, anniversaries, sales recognition, or any other message worthy event.

Time flies. It can be hard to keep up with holidays and birthdays. I mean if we had a nickel for every time Christmas snuck up on us… That’s why you can schedule your emails to be sent out in advance. You can pick a day of the week to look at your planner and schedule all of your messages for upcoming events for the week, month, or even the entire year!

Unfortunately, some people don’t want to receive sales-based emails, so no problem, they can simply unsubscribe from your messages. By doing so they will no longer receive your email promotions. Also, if they mark your messages as spam they’ll no longer get them.

You know what takes a little practice? Learning what your audience likes. Luckily, UnitWise makes it easy for you to improve your email marketing skills with the help of our email marketing reports.

The reports include how many people your email’s reached, so you’ll know who you need to reach out to in case you have their email information entered incorrectly. You’ll also be able to see how many people opened your email, and clicked the link to your products you included, who left the email unopened, how many people unsubscribed, and more.

Viewing this report for each email will give you indicators of what your target audience likes and which promotions get the most sales, so you can adapt your email marketing campaign to target the most sales.
