The Best Wedding Beauty Trends of 2017

At long last, we can finally say goodbye to the days of corkscrew curls, gaudy fake spray tans, and overpowering eyeshadow.

As an MK consultant, it is important for you and your business to stay ahead of the curve on new makeup trends. Here are some of the most popular wedding makeup and hair trends of summer 2017.

1. The Juliet Veil

These glorious veils are simply the crowning accessory for a bride seeking vintage inspiration. The Juliet Cap Veil was popularised in the 1920s in combination with flowing gowns and oversized bouquets. The style stems from a drawing of Juliet depicted wearing a cap that fit neatly. Today we have fallen in love with the elegance and glamour of this look.

2. Fresh Face

Put down that dramatic eyeshadow! Today’s brides are looking for a more natural and dewy look. Wearing a light pink eyeshadow has miraculously worked its way back into mainstream weddings via runway. This look is a quick and simple way to nail a romantic look without tumbling into Barbie bride territory.

Natural and fresh faces have taken over the runways around the world and are spilling into mainstream weddings everywhere. Soft glowing highlighted cheekbones create an effortless style of elegance and beauty. Keep the foundations light or switch to a light stain to avoid cakiness.

3. Whimsical Braids

As most of you have noticed braids are everywhere. Whether your bride wants full on braids or individual twist they are a perfect way to create a boho chic bridal style.

After so many years of over styled and frankly dated wedding hairstyles, it’s finally time to embrace the bride's natural beauty. Create natural waves with a few flyaways for an ethereal quality.

4. Flower Crowns

If your bride dreams of a boho inspired wedding, she is in luck! This 1960s vintage look does not seem to be going out of style anytime soon. Voluminous surfer girl waves paired with flowers creates a naturally elegant look. However, remember that you should only suggest this style is it fits the bride and the location of the wedding. Beyond beautiful when pulled off correctly but disastrous when not executed correctly. If your bride plans to wear a ball gown a flower crown might not be the best option.

But no matter how much beauty trends might change we here at UnitWise will always be here to help grow your business. We hope you enjoyed these new wedding beauty trends, please share your thoughts below. We hope you have a wonderful and safe weekend. For more beauty blogs visit UnitWise.com.

How to Guide for Caring for your Sensitive Skin

sensitive skin conditions/ sensitive face
We all experience good and bad days for our skin, and this is especially true if you have sensitive skin. You could be constantly plagued with redness, puffiness, itchiness, dryness, and more! Make every day a great skin day by following this guide to lifestyle habits for keeping your skin healthy and comfortable.

Excessive exposure to environmental factors like sun and wind or extreme heat or cold can irritate your sensitive skin. While some problems are caused by genetics, some people are prone to allergic reactions from certain chemicals, or substances found a variety of products.

Once you have found what is irritating your skin, you can easily care for whatever might plague your skin.

Be careful of the products you use, avoid any irritants, and cultivate good eating and lifestyle habit to keep your skin healthy and comfortable.

Choosing the Right Products:

I know this next bit of advice might be hard to hear, but most scented lotions and soap can irritate your skin. Try selecting unscented products instead. Unless specifically made for sensitive skin such as MK’s Botanical Effects® series of products.

Most laundry detergents use perfumes which can cause skin irritation. Look out for those labeled “deodorant” or “antibacterial.” You may want to consider a plant-based detergent.

Almost all deodorants and antiperspirants contain aluminum. On top of skin irritation, antiperspirants have been linked to breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. Please check your labels

Avoid skin care and cosmetics containing alcohol, harsh exfoliants, acids, petrochemicals, sodium lauryl sulfate or coloring agents. Instead, use products with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory ingredients:

Instead Look for Products with:
  • White Tea
  • Green Tea
  • Aloe Vera
  • Chamomile
  • Marine Plants
  • Calendula
  • Oats
The fewer ingredients in a product, the better it is for your skin

Coconut Oil:

Opt out of lotions and try pure coconut oil as a natural moisturizer. It is full of fatty acids to help keep your skin soft and prevent dryness. It works deep in your pores to nourish from within. If you needed any more of a reason to choose this. Coconut oil can also treat conditions like dermatitis, eczema, and psoriasis because of its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It can even help to repair sun damage caused by overexposure.

Apply at night on your face, arms, and legs. Wash off the coconut oil in the morning.
For a soothing bath, mix 1 cup of raw coconut oil and soak for 15 minutes and pat dry.

Exfoliate:

For all skin types exfoliating is important, it helps to remove dead cells on the surface of your skin. In turn, this speeds up the skin renewal process and improves your skin texture.

Natural Exfoliant for Sensitive Skin:

Mashed Strawberries
1 Tablespoon of Yogurt
Ground Oatmeal
  1. Combine to make a thick paste
  2. Apply paste to face and gently massage using circular motions
  3. Rinse using a washcloth soaked in cool water
  4. Apply moisturizer

Makeup:

People suffering from sensitive skin must be careful when buying and apply makeup. If you have sensitive skin, use a face powder containing few preservatives, a silicone based foundation, pencil eyeliner, and avoid using waterproof cosmetics. Plus stay away from complex anti-aging products. And remember to throw out old products and never share makeup with others.

Never sleep in your makeup. Wash your face at night with cool water.

On-the-Go Makeup Essentials for Surviving the Day

Keeping a well-stocked on-the-go makeup bag is a busy business women's best-kept secret between meeting with your unit, parties, marketing, and last minute weekend road trips, you need to be ready for anything with quick touch-ups. Here are six beauty essential to add to you on-the-go makeup bag, be prepared for anything your day has in store.

1. Oil Absorbing Sheets:

Blotting papers are an excellent way to whisk away any sweat and oil without adding more product to your face. Adding additional layers can build up over the day making your face appear cakey. Keep oil blotting sheets in your bag to quickly dab over your face to soak up any excess oil without messing up your makeup.

Pack oil absorbing sheets are a life saver during the summer but are still very useful in the winter.

2. Foundation and Concealer

Keep a light to medium coverage foundation and concealer. Most likely you will already be wearing foundation, so when you add any additional layers on top, you don’t want it to be too thick. Use the concealer for any touch ups and to freshen up your eyes. Because we all have experienced the occasional pimples, under-eye bags, and slight redness.

If you are worried about any accidental spills, try using a contact lens case, use one one side for your foundation and the other for your concealer.

4. Red or Nude Lipstick

Depending if you want a more dramatic look pack a red lipstick or for a fresher natural look select a nude lipstick. Use it for touch-ups throughout the day, or if your going out with your friends pull a superhero-like day-to-night transformation.

If you like a dramatic flare pack a small case of eyeshadow for touch ups and to add drama.

5. Perfume

Instead of carrying a full bottle of perfume opt for carrying a small sample bottle or purchase a roller ball. They are perfect for your makeup bag because they are small and you can avoid any accidental spills.

Sephora has an amazing selection of rollerball perfume and they offer free samples before you buy.

6. Dry Shampoo:

Over the day your hair can get flat and oily so be sure to pack a mini version of your favorite dry shampoo. Personally, my favorite is the original Batiste. Hold the bottle about 10 -12 inches from your root. Separate your hair into two-inch sections and spritz lightly. If you haven’t used dry shampoo before, don’t be put off by the white powder simply blend it in by working your fingers through your hair. Lastly, use a hair brush to help work the formula into your hair give you that polished look.

Also, consider packing a miniature bottle of hairspray.

We here at UnitWise hope you have enjoyed these tips for your on-the-go beauty bag. For more beauty blogs, please visit UnitWise.comhttp://blog.unitwise.com/ and please share what beauty essentials you have in your makeup travel bag in the comment section below.

Ultimate Travel Hacks for Packing your Beauty Products

The kids start back to school in a few short weeks, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t time for one last family vacation. Take a mini-vacation to the beach, amusement park, state park or take off on a mini-road trip. Whatever, you choose to enjoy the last days of summer before the kids go back to school make it memorable.

While traveling can be stressful for several reasons, let's try to focus on simplifying packing and storing your makeup and beauty supply. If you are like me, even when you try to stay neat and organized when packing your makeup and hair products, there still ends up being a whole lot of stuff that you don’t even use on the trip. Not to mention traveling with super spillable products that always seem to find their way on your favorite shirt or all over the inside of your makeup bag in transit.

If you have had any of these experiences or just want to be better organized on your upcoming trip here are some travel hack for packing your makeup and hair supplies.

1. Make a list

Before you even start packing sit down and make a list to ensure nothing is forgotten and these also keeps you from packing unnecessary items. The best way to start is to go through your daily routine and then think about which items can be left behind. Also consider multiple use items, such as your lipstick can also be used as a cheek stain.

2. Storing liquid Products

This technique can apply to sunscreen, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and any liquid products you can think of. If you need to pack the whole bottle take the lid off, place a sheet of plastic wrap over the opening, and replace the top. This hack will keep your clothes and makeup bag free of any spills.

Alternatively, you can opt out of bringing a full sized bottle and pack travel-sized stuff instead. However, if you are buying these from the store a lot of the products you like aren't offered in mini-sizes and often cost just as much as the full-sized counterparts. Instead, purchase reusable travel bottles you can fill with your products.

You never know when you or your family might need sunscreen or lotion of vacation. Instead of lugging around sunscreen all day try filling straws with the product. To do this simply fill a straw with whatever product you want and push it in with a cotton swab, so there is a bit of straw left on both ends. Clean off the excess with a napkin then use a pair of pliers to melt one end of the straw then the other to seal.

3. Better Storage

When packing your razor use a metal clip to cover the blade and prevent it from cutting any of your items. When packing your blush, compact powder, or eye shadow place a plastic powder puff or cotton pad on top of the makeup to prevent the powder from breaking. Also, an empty Tic Tac case or medicine bottle works perfectly for storing your hair pins and cotton swabs.

With summer in full swing, we are constantly outside enjoying activities like camping, swimming, hiking and so much more. But while summer is fun it also brings a greater exposure to harmful rays that can result in unattractive sun tans on you legs, face or hands. We have all experienced raccoon eyes from wearing your sunglasses or farmers tans.

In this blog, we are going to look at some simple homemade methods to removing sun tans and reversing damage caused by sun exposure. These recipes use all natural ingredients so you can avoid using chemical based products.

1. Lemon, Cucumber and Rose Water

Ingredients:
  • Rose water - 1 tbsp
  • Cucumber Juice- 1 tbsp
  • Lemon Juice- 1 tbsp
Instructions:
  1. Simply add all three ingredients together
  2. Apply to tan using a sponge or cotton ball
  3. Let sit for 10 minutes and then wash area with cool water

This mask is the most efficient method to getting rid of an unsightly sun tan. Cucumbers and lemons are a natural bleaching agent and will help lighten your skin tone. Lemons contain vitamins C which neutralizes the damage caused by the sun and the rose water soothes rejuvenates the skin.

2. Tomato Face Mask

Ingredients:
  • Tomato pulp - 1 cup
  • Honey- 1 tbsp

Instructions:
  1. Mix the tomato pulp and honey together in a small bowl
  2. Apply mix evenly on your skin
  3. After 10 minutes wash your face or tan area with cold water
  4. Be shocked by the results.

If you don’t have time for this face mask simply slice a tomato and rub it gently on your face applying as much juice as possible. Let it soak into your skin to see an instant effect. Also, this will help protect you from the sun's rays.

3. Anti-Tan Milk and Honey Mask

Ingredients:
  • Milk - 4 tbsp

  2. Use a sponge or cotton ball to apply evenly
  3. Make a thick layer by repeating step 2
  4. Let dry for 10-15 minutes

Honey works to retain moisture while the milk and lemon have whitening properties. This is a great way to remove an unwanted tan and improve your complexion from your skin in a natural way.

Weird New Beauty Trends you Really Want to Try

Summer is in full swing and what a season it has been. In just a few short months, the world of beauty has been introduced to an utterly massive amount of new trends that mesmerize, enchant, and sometimes straight-up horrify us.
While some of these trends are sure to stick around for awhile we can only hope and pray most of these will fall off the face of the earth before we can refresh our Instagram feeds. Last year's summer beauty trends focused more on the dewy, natural no-makeup look. However, 2017 has produced lollipop lips (intentionally smudged), fake freckles, holographic and glitter obsessions. And not to mention the unicorn phenomenon that has somehow infiltrated all forms of our lives from bagels, frappuccinos, hair, nails and anything else imaginable.

While I can’t claim to be a fan of all of these trends, there’s no denying that there is something truly fascinating keeping us hooked. Whether you just want to try them in the safety of your own home or want to venture out, we all have wanted to try a few of these new trends. So without further ado, I will be presenting the unique and noteworthy beauty trends of summer 2017.

Glitter Everywhere:

Ah, glitter spreads everywhere and is impossible to get rid of. Try washing it off your hands……...see not going to happen.

At this point let's just assume if it’s a body part, chances are people have put glitter on it. Glitter and bedazzled lips, eyebrows, hair roots, beards, nails and the list goes on.

This sparkly trend brings back the disco-days of the 70’s and the 90’s flare. This look is great for a night out on the town, or a get together with friends. Just remember to keep it out of your eyes, and if you're using it in your hair, you will be finding glitter for months.

Lollipop Lips: AKA The Intentionally Smudged Look

This fun little look first was introduced during London’s Fashion week by M.A.C.
Essentially, to recreate this look color outside the lines of your lips to get the intentionally smudged lip color around your mouth…… No, really I am serious.

Fake Freckles:

Most women that grew up with freckles will probably roll their eyes at the idea of fake freckles, but out of all the new beauty trends, I like this one the most. Freckles seem to give off a fresh, natural, and youthful look. While most of these other trends seem to go over the top, freckles bring light and fun back to summer.

There are several options to choose from to obtain your freckles such as simply drawing them on with a brown liquid eyeliner or waterproof brow gel. Or if you want something that lasts a bit longer go for temporary freckle tattoos.

Unicorn Invasion:

Frappuccinos, bagels, hair, eyeshadow, lipstick, makeup brushes, nails and the list continues to grow daily. Transitioning from our fascination with galaxies of previous years, we now turn to magical creatures for inspiration. This beauty trend incorporates pastel colors, iridescence, glitter and shimmer to create a truly magical appearance. Because Unicorns don’t actually exist in the real world (Though we desperately wish they did), this trend is a fantastic example of thinking outside the box to create a very personal and beautiful style.

But no matter how much beauty trends might change we here at UnitWise will always be here to help grow your business. We hope you enjoyed these new beauty trends, please share your thoughts below. We hope you have a wonderful and safe weekend. For more beauty blogs visit UnitWise.com.

How to Keep Makeup on All Day During Summer

Happy Independence Day!! Cookouts, parties and firework shows!! We at UnitWise know you want to get back to your family, but we wanted to share some quick tips for sweat-proofing your makeup. Follow these five tips for keeping you fresh from the morning parade to night time fireworks.

1. Primer

Before applying your usual concealer and foundation take the time to use an oil-free primer. This will set your foundation making it last longer and prevent any face melting scenario.

2. Foundation

Use a damp blending sponge to apply foundation lightly. Thick coats of a foundation will cause you to look oily over the course of the day. Remember the less you put on, the less there will be to slide or melt off. Focus on concealing only the inner, deep-set part of your eyes and any problem areas.

3. Eyeshadow

Over the top glam is perfect for nights out with friends, but during summer cookouts try applying less eyeshadow for a more healthy radiance. Avoid cream eyeshadow which can crease in the heat and humidity. Use a damp brush for applying minimal eyeshadow powder.

4. Mascara

When selecting your mascara for the day go for a waterproof formula, or if you have sensitive eyes look for a weatherproof formula. Liquid eyeliners will also not smudge as an oil-based pencil will. So you can enjoy your activities outside with confidence without the worry of looking like a raccoon.

5. Blotting

Before leaving the house to make sure to bring extra powder to touch up your foundation. Also, blotting papers is an excellent way to whisk away any sweat and oil without adding more product. Adding more layers can build up over the day making your face appear cakey. Keep oil blotting sheets in your purse to quickly dab over your face to soak up excess oil without messing up your makeup.

We here at UnitWise hope you have enjoyed these tips for melt-proofing your summer time makeup. Have a safe and wonderful Independence day. For more beauty blogs visit UnitWise.com and please share your advice on how to melt-proof your summer makeup look in the comment section below.

How Your Diet Affects Your Skin

You are what you eat!

Your skin truly is a reflection of your overall health. The way you eat not only affects your weight and how you feel, but there are several ways your diet affects your skin. Eating a healthy diet is an ‘inside-out” approach to having radiant skin. Here at UnitWise, we want to share a few tips to improve your complexion and understand how your diet affects your skin.

Chronic Dryness:
If you find yourself with dry and cracked skin on a constant basis put down the bottle of lotion; we need to fix this problem from the inside-out. Your body may not be getting the nutrients it needs. Moisturizing is a vital part of caring for your skin, however, eating a balanced diet is just as important. If you’re not eating enough healthy fats, your body lacks important fatty acids.

Nuts and olive oil are great examples of healthy fats that help your body absorb nutrients and keep your skin moist and supple. Also not drinking the recommended eight 8-ounce glasses of fluid a day can cause dryness.

Drinking lots of water to stay hydrated during the summer is extremely important. When you sweat, your body relies on fluids to remove toxins from your skin. Health authorities recommend 2 liters or a half a gallon of water a day. Also, keep in mind that carbonated soft drinks dehydrate you. Because they contain sugar and caffeine, it does not replace any of the fluids you are losing from sweating.

Also try avocados, unsweetened coconut milk, and fish for a great source for omega-3s.

Wrinkles:
Whether you have wrinkles or not be careful to consider how much refined “white” carbohydrates and sugars you’re eating. Yes, eventually we will all look like our parents, but luckily with healthy eating, we can put that off as long as possible!

Surprisingly many people have wrinkles caused by having low collagen production. The elasticity of your skin is determined by proteins, collagens, and elastic lying just under the surface. No matter your age sugars cause damage by eating away at the collagen in your cells. Once damaged your collagen and elastin become weak and dry causing signs of age such as wrinkles and skin sagging. So to keep those wrinkles at bay limit your intake of refined sugars.

To prevent wrinkles or help restore your skin, focus on eating foods high in protein. Fish contain omega-3 acids and high protein levels which will help your body build collagen and elastin.

Salmon and trout are fatty fish that contain high levels of omega-3s and protein.

Acne:
I don't know about anyone else, but I always thought when I was an adult I would never deal with breakouts again. I was sadly mistaken. As teenagers the major culprit for acne was hormonal changes; now as adults, we need to look at our diet.

Eating a diet high in starchy foods and sugars cause your blood sugar to rise, pretty understandably. However, when your blood sugar rises inflammation occurs, and your insulin levels become irregular. The imbalance in insulin triggers certain hormones and causes breakouts.

Also, if you overwhelm your liver with too much sugar, it is unable to effectively filter all the toxins you run into during the day. As a result of toxin overload, your skin will act as a last ditch effort release it from your skin. In other words acne and breakouts.

Try replacing refined sugar and starches with fresh fruit, vegetables, and whole grains. Your body will thank you!

Try a salad made of fresh berries and kale/spinach.

Dull Complexion:
If your skin looks dull and gray even in the middle of summer, consider the following. You could be eating too many fats, and your skin literally isn’t being fed properly. Remember your skin sheds about 30,000 to 40,000 cells on a daily basis.

Eating deeply colored fruits and vegetables instead of processed foods provide you with essential nutrients. Carrots and sweet potatoes are high in vitamin-A which is needed for skin cell reproduction. Oranges, broccoli, and kale are a wonderful source of vitamin-C to produce collagen.

Brighten up your skin by sleeping 8 hours and eating foods high in Vitamin-A and Vitamin-C.

Dark Under Eye Circles:
Dark circles could be a result of stress, anxiety, and lack of sleep but also a result of adrenal exhaustion, which can be caused by your diet. An excess of caffeine, sugar, or not eating enough can cause stress in your adrenal glands.

The adrenal glands are located near your kidneys and help your body control blood sugar, blood pressure, burn fat and protein. It also serves as a sensor for illness or injury.

Another cause for dark circles can be a food allergy or sensitivity, so be sure to check with your doctor if your symptoms continue.

Try broccoli and brussels sprouts for vitamin K which help with blood coagulation and circulation.

Plenty of Fluids:
Drinking lots of water to stay hydrated during the summer is extremely important. When you sweat, your body relies on fluids to remove toxins from your skin. Health authorities recommend 2 liters or a half a gallon of water a day. Also, keep in mind that carbonated soft drinks dehydrate you. Because they contain sugar and caffeine, it does not replace any of the fluids you are losing from sweating.

Green tea is not only refreshing but also packed with antioxidants.

How To Prevent Summer Dry Skin

It’s really starting to heat up out there. You might find yourself feeling a little extra heated by the pool, at the beach, or just during your normal daily routine. As you heat up, so does your skin! Don’t suffer from irritated, dry skin all summer long, learn how to help your skin fight the dry heat.

Fighting Summer Dry Skin

The basics start with your showering techniques. Even though a hot steamy shower might be the only way to get up in the morning, your skin will thank you for turning down the heat. Hot showers actually dry your skin out, and you’ll benefit from a cooler, lukewarm shower instead.

Then while you’re in there remember to exfoliate with a gentle scrub. Over exfoliating can irritate sensitive skin, but gently exfoliating will help wash away debris like dirt, and dead skin that clogs your pores so your skin will be able to absorb more moisture.

When your skin is still moist from the shower then it’s the best time to apply hydrating moisturizer lotion. Put it all over! Also, it doesn’t have to be a once a day activity. Apply moisturizer before bed, during a nose powdering session, or at any point when your skin feels dry. You can even up your moisturizing game with a hydrating face mask or a refreshing face mist.

Don’t forget to hydrate your own body. Drink water all day long to hydrate your skin. Remember to up your water intake during the summer to beat heat causing dehydration. Also, you can liven your water up with cucumbers, lemons, and berries to add vitamins and minerals that will boost your skin.

Even though summer is the time to go out and catch some rays you have to protect your skin from the sun. Sit in the shade when you can and wear protective clothing like large hats. Also, don’t forget to apply, reapply, and reapply sunscreen every 2 to 3 hours. You can even get some SPF lip balm to protect the sensitive skin on your lips.

Harsh chemicals in sunscreen can really dry out your skin so look for an organic brand. Other harsh chemicals that can do a number on your skin are found in bug sprays, bath bombs, and chlorine.

After being in the sun be sure to treat any possible sunburn or skin irritation as soon as possible. Sooth your skin with some aloe vera or cooling lotion and take some aspirin to reduce inflammation.

Now we know that you aren’t going to avoid the pool, and neither are we, just keep in mind that it’s best to rinse off chlorine with warm water as soon as you can after taking a dip.

When you’re cooling off inside try not to pick a seat by a blowing fan or an AC vent. As cold air whips through the room, it can dry your skin out faster than you know it. However, You could place a humidifier in the room to add moisture to the air.

Keep Cool This Summer

Don’t like irritated, itchy skin hold you back from enjoying summer activities! Keep your skin nice and hydrated for comfort all season long. Don’t hold yourself back from the pool or a day by the lake, just be prepared to protect your skin from the sun and never forget to moisturize!
